Variety and value away from the tourist crush.

The best indication of the quality of food in this restaurant is the number of French people eating there. There's a lovely family atmosphere about the place, and we were lucky to get a table for Thursday lunch, such is its popularity. Delicious terrine. Tasty chicken and pork, nothing fancy, just... read more

My partner and I first discovered this restaurant nearly five years ago and revisited it twice in August 2013. This time we were once again on a short break staying inside the attractive old walled city of Saint-Malo. It is always with some trepidation that one revisits a favourite restaurant well over 18 months later. Has it changed hands? Will... More

A bowl of mussels, steak and a plate of cheese, for 19 euro. Washed down with a demi pression and 1/2 a cote du Rhone, made for a very pleasant evening meal.

Old fashioned good service, excellent food at a reasonable price with interesting view of the square. This restaurant is near the cathedral so not near the "main drag", but well worth the short walk.

As a total Foodie, in my humble opinion this restaurant is the best in St Malo - which is quite an achievement as this is a tourist resort with lots of eateries to choose from. Tucked away from the many little lanes and main parade where most of the restaurants can be found, this is where the French choose to... More

My husband and I enjoyed this place so much that we came back the following night of our 2 day break in St Malo. This restaurant is, as the title suggest, away from the main touristy bit of St Malo, which if anything is a positive, since you will find that's where the locals eat. The food is simple, very... A little off the main restaurant strip and from the outside nothing special, this provided a very good formule lunch the other week in traditional surrounds. When I first started visiting France over 30 years ago, hotels with attached restaurants such as this were everywhere and stallwarts of their craft providing good food to commercial travellers, tourists and local alike.... Although our initial welcome was not good (we arrived 10 mins before they opened) we were really pleased that we went back. The fixed menu was good value and the meals were superb - really good, fairly simply cooked food. The plat du jour looked amazing, although neither of us chose it.

Away from the more expensive and rushed restaurants along the main drag this restaurant provides excellent service, a great atmosphere and best of all excellent food and wind at reasonable prices

I am always worried when I look for a restaurant in a very touristy area/town. This place was recommended to us; It was not bad; however, the fried potatoes were swimming in oil and were pretty soggy, not very crisp! the smoked salmon was very nice. The food was very good value for money, so not much of a risk.... More
