I like the starter 'potato chips' most. Sutiah can make hot or mild dishes at your choice. The sea food was excellent.

Excellent traditional Indonesian food. Run by husband and wife who have a real passion for Indonesia and explaining the food and options. Menu in both French and English. Small but lovely...

We were looking for a restaurant in St Malo that served spicy food......and this was the one. The two "dodgy" earlier reviews caused some concern but we then realised they were suspicious, posted one day after another, similar symptoms, and coming from the same part of UK!!!! This meal was an experience from the fabulous welcome as we stepped through... More

Despite being in a creperie and seafood area, stumbled upon this little jewel of a family run restaurant. Having done VSO in Malaysia I regularly whisk up stir fries in woks and make a mean satay and nasi goreng ...so I can say hand on heart this is authentic, home cooked cooking. No accommodating western palates! But don't panic, the... More

This restaurant, run by a husband and wife team, serves great Indonesian restaurant. My wife simply adors the kakhi kudak - the frogs leges - and the family staff are great fun as well as professional. The best foreign restaurant in St Malo if not north east Brittany.

I visited this restaurant whils ton holiday in St Malo - what a disappointment. I ordered a Gadogado for starter - what came out was actually a plate of over-cooked vegetables - mainly cabbage and carrots and a small dish of satay sauce and i was told to mix it myself to make the dish! Worse was to come with... More

This is the first review I have done on a restaurant and not for the right reasons! Being a vegetarian in France I struggle and welcomed the chance to have spicy food for a change. I travel Asia extensively with my job and love the food. On this occasion the food was just so bad I am not sure where... More

For all Dutch people who know Indonesian food very well, this is the Indonesian Restaurant in France to be. Food is delicious and you can speak real Bahasa Indonesia. English (Ingris), French (Francis) and Bahasa Indonesia no problem. Try the Lumpia, Gulai Kambing, Nasi Kuning, Mie Goreng, Sate, the are real Indonesian. This people knows the Indonesian flavours very well.... More

I note a review from October 2008 and I'm delighted that this restaurant seems to be still there. In my view it is the only restaurant in France that understands chilli in all its varieties. Better for the Brits than the French but well worth a visit. Jon

I have been to Le Javanais several times - no trip to Brittany is complete without a meal there! The food is absolutely delicious, and the menu huge. So many exciting, fragrant and spicy dishes to choose from, with various curries, noodles and rice dishes. They also have the best dessert I have ever tasted... A beautiful place inside, very...
