Good friendly service. Tasty foods, nicely prepared and served. Un pretentious - really perfect for a nice dinner while on vacationbn.

There are many restaurants in St Malo offering fantastic seafood, where all the restaurant needs to do is not get in the way of the wonderful ingredients. Some though try a bit harder. Gilles is one of them. Located a bit off the busiest parts of Intra-Muros, Gilles doesn't look very interesting from the outside, but inside is a small... More

There are hundreds of restaurants in the old town of St Malo but if you pay another 10 euros for your lunch you move up to a different world. It is also slightly away from all the tourist cafes. The quality of each dish was superb and all freshly made by the chef/proprietor. We were persuaded to have the dessert... More

This restaurant was recommended by Michel at Hotel Quic en Groigne which is where we spent the final night of our holiday. It is a two minute walk "around the corner" from the hotel and Michel told us we would not be disappointed. We weren't. Right off the tourist route, this discreet, small restaurant serves superb food and excellent wines.... More

Having just spent three great weeks in Brittany this was our most delicious meal. The formule menu for 27 euro was fantastic value and included plenty of choice. The décor was simple and pleasing and the service was excellent. The atmosphere was quiet and refined.

In a tourist-trap like St Malo, it was great to find a restaurant, slightly off the beaten track, that served excellent food. We went there for lunch and selected from the standard lunch menu. Starters and mains were delicious and beautifully presented. We skipped dessert, but they looked great. Good friendly and efficient service.

Good value, welcoming restaurant and staff with modern decor but not plastic, with its fish and seafood specialties. the like most of the restaurants offer a fixed price menu if needed. As I said very good value,it does get very busy. Some good local wines on offer and a good cellar. We lunched here before the evening ferry and for... More

This is a small family restaurant that serves excellent food, prepared with unexpected finesse. The patron was friendly and helpful and went out of her way to suggest and prepare vegetarian dishes for me. (Quite something!) A really good meal, very well cooked and free from rip-off prices or pretension.

This was our "last dinner in France" and we wanted something a little special. "Gilles" has a decent menu which contains a good fair number of fish dishes. We were not disappointed in our choice as we enjoyed really excellent food in a small tastefully decorated restaurant within the old city walls. We will return!

Overall, average taste average presentation, and average experience We were ushered in by a dear lady who took care of it all hosting, waiting, clearing up tables and bar tending she did a wonderful job but if this labor saving was practiced in the kitchen as well that would explain the missing "glow" and " bang" of the food I...
