We went for the e68 pp New Year lunch menu (4 courses). The GOOD: - great desert (three types of complementary chocolate flavours) - really imaginative and charming decor - 2 starter and main options (rather than just a set) -several items complements if the chef (amuse bouche, after chocolates and taste cleanser) all done to high standard The BAD... The only Michelin rated restaurant in the Quimper area, it was a must go. Unpretentious on the exterior and easy to miss, the restaurant inside is very petite, and glows with soft suffused lighting and atmosphere. Service by, I assume the proprietress, is unassumingly polite, and on our evening prompt. This restaurant is rated one star. It is hard to... More

We had agreed to visit this place while on hols, and after getting engaged in Brittany, this was the place to celebrate. There is a €27 3 course menu which represents good value, though as the web site example didn't appeal, I had already bitten the bullet and decided off the a la carte. In fairness, on the day, the... A tiny restaurant (and all the better for it) in which charming service is accompanied by excellent food. Fish features as you would expect in Brittany and was super fresh. Food was delicate and refined as befits a Michelin star style of cooking. Wine was a little limited for cheaper bottles but a€30 Cote de Provence was excellent. Interestingly, older... More

We arrived at L'Ambroisie by chance due to a mix up with a reservation elsewhere. What a happy chance. We discovered later that it has a totally deserved Michelin star, which would probably have deterred us as we prefer relaxed on holiday. That would have been a shame. Although the atmosphere is quite subdued, the welcome was warm, the service... More

This is a tiny restaurant (only seven tables as it was set up the night we ate here) with friendly service, and a server whose English is perfect and so is able to help with the menu. We shared the fish tartare appetizer which was excellent. The lamb is offered only if two order it, and we did. It was... More

I had dinner here a couple of weeks ago when travelling around Brittany by myself. This restaurant is quite formal but they had no problem letting me in! I had the tuna started and the pigeon main course. Both were absolutely spot on. I also had desert but I can't remember what it was. However it was also excellent. Top... More

Quimper is generally not well known for its restaurants but we are very happy that we walked in off the street and chose L'Ambroisie. My favourite French dish is Canard and the chef did not disappoint, it was done to perfection. We normally don't have an entree so I can't comment on these, however the selection of desserts were delicious.... More

The two of us both had the 36 Euro menu (the second most expensive of four) which had two choices for each course – and between us we chose all six dishes. They were all excellent. Portions are not large, but together with the complementary amuse bouche and pastries we left satisfied – in every respect. It is possible to... More
