Pretty Good, but some Misses

We ate here our second night in Dinan, primarily because it was close to where we were staying, and one of the few restaurants open Monday night. Our host at the B&B made a reservation for us, which was fortunate because we saw several people turned away because the restaurant was full and they... read more

Surrounded by half-timbered buildings on a cobble-stoned street, this restaurant is situated in a very picturesque square of the medieval town. As dinner service begins at 7 pm, we enjoyed ice creams and drinks under terrace umbrellas in the square with our school-aged kids in tow before dining in the ancient building. White linens, giant stone fireplace, winding wooden staircase,... More

We went to discuss bookings for 2 nights for a group. The waitress was rather offhand. One meal was excellent and the other two were overpriced and under quality. Disappointing to say the least. However when an unsolicited criticism of our hotel owner was offered we felt enough was enough. Needless to say we will not return - and especially... More

Three of us went for dinner...one meal was very good, one mediocre and one...well unmentionable. On top of that staff was arrogant and insulting...the head waiter insulted the owner of the hotel we are staying at when we wanted to book a geoup of 30 people for next July...I don't think so! We will never come back and nor should... More

La Mere Pourcel's is in one of Dinan's wonderful medieval buildings located on the central town square. Outside it has the usual outside metal tables, inside it is very much a white tablecloth establishment, with a string of wine glasses set at each place. There are lots of tourists in Dinan in the season, with good reason as it is... More

Dinan is a fantastic place to visit and eat. We liked the look of this restaurant and it did not disappoint . Lovely staff ,very French (of course)and the setting was genuine Middle Ages complete with 500 year old hearth and fire surround . The atmosphere is very good ,perfect in fact and the food was sumptuous and highly recommended.

OK, so we don't speak too much French but enough to order and know we were enjoying superb cuisine in delightful surroundings. We enjoyed 3 splendid courses with drinks - all for around £50 including gratuity which seemed like money well spent. The ambience of the place and well organised staff enhanced the experience. Would recommend thoroughy

For this restaurant you have to book. The food is nothing special, and the service is slow. There are not many fish restaurants in Dinan, this is one of them in the centre of the town. We were disappointed. I had the fish my husband the kidneys. He had the oysters as a starter, I had Foi gras. The deserts... More

It is well worthwhile going here just for the medieval atmosphere, I mean genuine medieval. The service was brisk and the food was good, although my choice of scallops in orange sauce didnt quite float my boat

This restaurant was recommended by our Hotel Concierge in Dinan and we were luckyto be able to get in since we did not have a reservation. I would highly recommend to reserve a table early on. We were 6 people and each had different meal and every single one of us was super impressed by the presentation and quality of... More
