Funny place for a crab meal

When arrived in Brest we did stroll along the waterfront resturants. Maybe this is not the ideal place for a romantic rendez-vous, it is a nice place with a warm and cosy atmosphere, where you get excellent fresh seafood at a very reasonable price. We went in for the fresh crab, and were not disappointed. The waitress came, explained the basic house rules (you were protective traditional clothing, get a wooden... More

I have been in this restaurant several times in 2013 - 2014 and I always found fresh and excellent oysters (there are two different sizes, too), crabs and shrimps. The furniture are special, with table clothes made by newspaper and marine environment. They give you the typical wood hammer which is used to break the crab and enjoy with a... More

Crabs and hammers, and a few other bits like oysters, crevettes etc. Aprons provided (needed when using the hammer with any force) Charming service, great shack-style interior. . House white goes perfectly with the ultra-fresh crustaceans, bread fantastic - heaven!

It's not a michelin style restaurant, but you wount regret coming here. The simplicity and the whole setting did everything in this place. At a first sight it's located in the harbour area and looks a bit scruffy, but once inside it's a genuine crab-banging and oyster feast circus. We tried the oysters and the spider crab together with the... More

I liked the character service food and feel of this place. Good value, friendly and very tasty fresh sea food. We drank a good deal more than we ate but the crab and the rest was first rate. We stumbled upon le crabe-marteau as we strolled down by the water but it is well worth seeking out specially.

This place was excellent for myself and my partner. We were greeted with smiles when we entered and were sat. We were unsure about the crab meal to go for and luckily the waiter was kind enough to go through the options in enthusiastic detail. We had the Oysters to start, which were well shucked with no noticeable grit. The... More

I spent wonderful 90 minutes in this restaurant with great food and atmosphere. I've ordered admiral dish with big crab and langustines and together with three dips and boiled potatoes itbrought a real feast to my stomach. The only thing i regret (but a very little) is lack of local beer, but i could understand as French are more focused... More
