Traditional Basque/French food at a fair price. Good portions, great ambience and excellent service. The manager/patron was very courteous and welcoming, as were all of the waiting staff. In general the standard of the food was very acceptable, the only negative for me being the chips which accompanied a bowl of otherwise excellent mussels; they were not crisp and were... More

Strolling the attractive streets of Saint-Jean-de-Luz we came upon La Vieille Auberge. My fish soup was adorned with tiny mussels and my wife's chevre salad was large enough for two (or three). Her gambas were as good as any in Spain and my grilled seafood platter was a delight- I really didn't need the baked potato. We had a bottle... More

Good traditional French food at a good price. Large portions, great ambience and very good service. I ordered the 'Charcuterie' as a starter and there was plenty for two. The manager/patron was very friendly as were the waiting staff. Located very close to the beach in a beautiful and romantic French street.

This is what we wanted and we had a great paella; mussels, cockles, salmon, chicken, chorizo...huge portion for one and very tasty. For starter my partner had the best salmon tartar we have had in years, I had calamari which was very nice. The staff were great, the manager recommended the sangria he made himself..wow, what a kick! Eat here,... More

The restaurant is located on one of the busy tourist streets minutes from the beach. We were introduced to it by a group dinner (about 70 people) arranged by locals, we enjoyed it and went back twice to try different things. The setting is nice, family like and bright, service is very friendly. The manager speaks good English and took... More

We chose this because we'd eaten elsewhere in the same street for a good price and realised that this is probably the cheapest street in the town! The restaurant was busy and lively but that didn't stop us getting plenty of attention from the staff. We chose a large fish for two, which for my British palate was a little... More

A decent restaurant and excellent service. In addition to the regional fare, there were other choices on the menu that allowed for a bit of variety. The owners clearly take pride in their establishment. A friendly place, basic, and decent. Good for the weary traveler!
