Delicious lunch

We had a lovely Sunday luch here early on in our basque holiday. Delicious paella which turned out to be the best of the few I had on this holiday. Friendly service

Lunch time at l'auberge, with two €23 menus. Had sangria, very sweet to our taste. Soup as starter was way too generous- main course literally became a "resisting course". OK overall, could do with smaller portions for their menus. Service friendly and could be perceived over-friendly for some. Much better places to eat in St Jean in our opinion.

My husband and I stumbled upon this restaurant whilst walking round town. We ate early and were the first table in for dinner but by the time we left it was completely full with a lively atmosphere. The staff were polite and attentive and were able to translate the dishes. We both had 3 courses, the highlight dishes being a... More

very busy restaurant, where the emphasis appeared to be on turning tables around quickly. Food was average and expensive.

A one night stay in Saint Jean de Luz after a 650 mile drive meant we wanted good food quickly - we got Great Food and Great Service from a very busy team. The team speak English well and were very helpful in choosing wine to go with the meal and suggesting menu items. The food was very fresh and... More

Very friendly staff good food. Proper tapas for lunch anyhow. Great meat dish, and black pudding was nice. The ham croquettes were nice.

We found this restaurant in a side street off the Place Louis. It had a lovely atmosphere with friendly staff. We decided to have the E19.50pp menu - very good value. G had soupe de poissons which was good, and I had the salade de chevre with white asparagus and bacon - very good. We shared the Paella and although... More

Wish we had found this one sooner. What makes this so special ? The ambiance for a start. Spacious, traditional old basque house with clean modern decor, comfortable cushioned chairs and wonderfully friendly English speaking owner and staff. The menu is one of the most varied you will find and the food is that much better. They are flexible too.... More

La Vieille Auberge is ideally located at a footstep from the beach, in one of those streets where you may find thousands of restaurants per m². So why is it different from the others ? First of all, the food : generous, fresh, local receipes, and affordable prices. The menu offer a wide range of comfy and typically Basque dishes,... More
