Great restaurant next to Les Halles

This is a very good restaurant, just off Victor Hugo, and an excellent place for a couple to enjoy a truly authentic basque ambience, and local seafood, with fine wines.

We had dinner here because it was very close to our hotel and read decent reviews about it. Unfortunately for us it was a completely tasteless meal completely lacking any spices, salt especially. For being one of the worst meals we had during our three weeks in France, it is extremely overpriced.

Lovely evening and we sat outside to take in the hustle and bustle. Not in the tourist part which was too loud and busy. Food was excellent and all local. Loved the wine decanters and made a detour from our trip to go and buy one from the kitchen retailer in Anglet!! Most enjoyable evening with very friendly and helpful... More

We had dinner outside in this restaurant....the staff was very nice and it was in a nice setting but honestly, we only thought the food was average. For the price, you can do better in Saint Jean de Luz....we did on other nights.

Ordered their speciality. An entrecôte steak.... Great flavour beautifully cooked but for 18€ I was expending more than 200g if that... Good salad and a really popular place. Worth a try but cote de boeuf looks better value if you have a friend or lover

The restaurant was highly recommended by the manager of our hotel...Who didn't think we needed reservations. That was wrong, but we waited outside for 20 minutes or so with a glass of rose and a table came available. It is a delightful restaurant inside. Warm, red, wood, lots of pictures depicting Basque life. We had a splendid evening...had the charcutrie... More

The good was very good, no wonder because the restaurant is ahead of the daily market. The service is polite but tends to forget orders and the price has been 25% above restaurants with the same quality.

Kako is a very popular traditional Basque bistro with the locals in Saint-Jean-de-Luz. Our hotel strongly recommended we go there, and we did - twice. They serve traditional Basque dishes, including squid (chipirons), merlu (a white fish) served Spanish style, and a side of beef that is for two with frites (huge plates!) We had a whole sole sauteed with... More

My husband and I took a day trip to St Jean de Luz on a rainy May day for a spot of lunch. We stumbled across this restaurant after recommendation by a local shopkeeper. We were not disappointed. We arrived without reservation and were fortunate that there was one table left so we took our seats. It was a small... More
