What a great find, thanks to Tripadvisor! Wonderful honest French food, cooked & seasoned perfectly. We opted for a light lunch of fish soup and a foie gras starter and both were outstanding, coupled with friendly attentive service. Would definitely like to return to explore the menu in more detail

I am nearing the end of a 26 day trip to France, and this is one of the best, if not the best, meals I have had here. There is nothing "typical" about this restaurant. The food was beautifully prepared and presented, and very imaginative. Local ingredients were livened up by unexpected flavors--preserved lemon, and possibly tamarind. Portions were extremely... After our first meal at Olatua, we came back twice in two days! And the only reason why we did not come back a third time is that we had previously reserved a table at another restaurant which we did not want to cancel. This came a bit as a surprise to us as the menu does not look like... More

we were staying overnight on a long long drive down to southern spain, we arrived tired out, we had the set meal, excellnet value for St jean de Luz, this is an expensive resort . Our waiter was friendly, spoke little English- but we spoke no basque & a little french, we managed between us, had a fantastic venison terrine,... More

Traditional basque menu. Very good. Good service. We particularly liked the extensive and historical family photo album that adorned the walls.

Six of us were there at about 8:30 pm and left around 11 pm. We were in no hurry which was just as well as the service was at a gentle pace with a reasonably long gap between the entree and main course. Having said that, the food was excellent and the staff and owner were very friendly. The setting... More

The restaurant is pretty and calm, but our dining experience was negative. The lights in the restaurant were too bright (blinding), the waiter was indifferent, and while some dishes were fine, others were pretty ordinary or actually bad. Good desserts, mediocre main courses, poor appetizers, table wine very poor.
