We were there for lunch, having tried and failed to get a last minute seat a few days earlier. We had the 29€ lunch which was fabulous - fish for one, and pigeon for the other of us. Of course, with a glass of wine, coffee and water, the bill ended up at €75 but for a one star M... More

We went here for a birthday meal, two of us, but we have been before. The food is amazing, delicious and beautiful. I don't know how it is still hot it is presented so beautifully. Several different cooking skills in each dish and everything cooked to perfection with the seasoning just right. They are friendly as well, you feel pampered.

For little more than the price of any number of very ordinary restaurants in Perigueux one can dine Michelin star. The food and service are first class and the value for money in unbeatable. The pigeon is divine.

We ate here for lunch with some French friends we were staying with in Le Nicoulou and we were hopeful that the experience was going to be better than the restaurant, not very far from this one, we took them to the year before. We need not have worried. We had champagne aperitif followed by the Gourmand three course menu... More

L'Essentiel is one of the few hundred Michelin Star rated restaurants in the whole of France. It only has One (out of 3) stars to date, I recommend this restaurant because the food, service and ambience are just right. To eat in a restaurant of this quality is not cheap, if you wanted a higher rated Michelin rated restaurant expect... More

Our second visit to this place was just as good as the first. On a sunny day in Late September we were able to sit outside in the small seating area with views of the Cathedral and enjoy quite exceptional food beautifully presented. The service was friendly and knowledgeable and the ingredients nothing but the finest. Not cheap but worth... More

We have lived in this area for over ten years and eating out is one of our passions. Dining out at these prices should be a faultless experience and with its Michelin star and the promises given on the website our expectations were high. This was a celebration so I wanted it to be special. We have lunched here before... More

L Essentiel, Perigueux, Michelin one Star After a hard mornings work searching for bargains at the Saturday morning markets in the old town of Perigueux, what could be more relaxing and rewarding than a long lunch at a one star Michelin restaurant. And l’Essentiel is so convenient both to the old town markets and our hotel at the other side... More

I was recommended to this restaurant, and my friends and I enjoyed the food there. Excellent creation of main course and dessert, the presentation of table setting and food were pleasing to eyes. The chef's wife paid attention to every details to make our dining an unforgettable experience, she made the whole dinning experience there a wonderful and magical evening.
