Good Basque food

This is a nice place to eat basque food in Biarritz. The place is normally crowded, but the service is quite efficient. They are attentious but have no time to be nice.

Went to this bar as had seen good reviews and was packed every time we walked past. Unfortunately the food was very disappointing and overpriced. Mains went unfinished, did not taste freshly prepared. Sangria tasted awful. Starters from La Plancha were ok, but expensive for what they were. Service was slow. Would not recommend.

We stumbled upon this place without even knowing. First time in Biarritz. We were drawn in by the atmosphere. The food was excellent, the waiters were fast, and kept the good vibes going! Very recommendable...

Whilst in the Biarritz area, had lunch twice at this establishment and it is easy to understand why it always seems to be so busy and bustling. Good selection of food on the menu and also very good specials on the days we were there, Charming waiters and waitresses, always with a smile on their faces and keen to make... More

Bar Jean is directly opposite the market (Les Halles) in Biarritz and thus very centrally located within the town. My wife had the foie gras (a starter but quite a large portion) while I opted for the daily special which was calves kidneys and quite delicious. This and a good bottle of wine for around €40 can't be bad!

The place is full every evening, but when the weather is nice, that is not a problem, because waiters serve drinks and food on the stairs of les Halles. The place is so loud but the atmosphere is so tempting. And the food - excellent. Trust waiters with the choice of wine.

Everyone should pop by this Biarritz institution opposite the covered market, if not for a meal, at least to soak up the atmosphere with locals and visitors alike creating a buzz from lunchtime onwards. The renovated Les Halles opposite mean that there are fewer cars and the tables can spill further onto the road. Great tapas, drinks, and small eats,... More

I arrived at Bar Jean around 6.30pm, sat in the sunshine, ordered a glass of Rueda and some tapas. Within an hour the entire area had transformed; the restaurant staff were run off their feet, the crowds spilled out onto the street and a festival atmosphere ensued...it was quite a spectacle. Interestingly, the excellent servers appeared to be used to... More

This is a hugely busy and obviously successful tapas bar and restaurant in the trendy Halles district of the town cenrtre. Varied menu of the usual tapas dishes with a typiical Baqe flavour. Generous portions - a starter of chiperons is enough for two..very good value for money, a full dinners with wine is unlikely to be more than 30/35... More
