Extremely overpriced

I was fully aware of the prices in this restaurant and I expected nice and deliciuos food. Despite the view is stunning, and waiter was attentive, food, the main thing in any restaurant, was disappointing. When one pays for sole 51€, he expects something really tasty. Although we anticipated that this would be an expensive option our group decided to bite the bullet as the views across the bay were so beautiful. We ordered a one course lunch for seven people and two rounds of drinks. I had the chicken fricassee which doesn't sound very exciting but was absolutely delicious. It was cooked to perfection and... One could be put off by the sheer size of the Grand Hotel and the absence of an inviting approach to this restaurant which is beside the pool and offers a nice view of the central beach and waterfront in Biarritz. It is open to the public and the quality of the service and food makes it a fine place... More

Right at the Grand Hotel, expensive, but worth a visit. Service is good, try the fish or the fresh tatar as well as the buffet for desert. And then head back to the beach just steps away.

We love this restaurant. It's a favorite for lunch with the most amazing dessert buffet. At evenings you have the bonus of an amazing sunset.

Same kitchen as La Coupole and the Villa Eugénie. However, only residents can use the pool, which is the magnet about the place at lunchtime. Breathtaking views over the ocean. Best in the evening.

Hippocampe is the more casual restaurant within hotel du palais. However I was under the impression that the food would be of the same high standard as dining in the hotel because the menu was exactly the same and the price was the same but the qualtiy was well below par. It is dreadful to have to share a dining... More

I was lucky enough to dine here at the Hotel du Palais in their Hippocampe restaurant (translated as "Seahorse"). Food was magnificent, especiallythe fresh fish including tender red mullet and the desserts were out of this world, all washed down with local Bordeaux reds and whites looking down the coast across Biarritz's beaches. What a day!
