Retro yet fresh!

Situated in the old part of Bordeaux yet slightly off the beaten tourist track, this place is a real find. The setting is 50s/60s. With photos of famous film directors hanging on the wall, the likes of Frank Capra, Alfred Hitchcock, Marcel Pagnol and Howard Hawks survey your gastronomic pleasure... read more

We visited Le Scopitone for lunch with our kids. It's a little hard to describe - very traditional menu for the most part, with some contemporary specials. We had delightful dishes in the 3 course set menu which were good value at E22. Tasty, good service and authentic - a nice option all round and while tourist friendly, certainly a... More

Weird one, this. A couple of locals recommended this place to us and by the time we finished eating we were shoulder to shoulder with hordes more as the place was absolutely packed out. With the red vinyl banquets and fading film director photos on the wall it looks like it hasn't changed since the 1960s. Maybe it hasn't... we... More

From the time we arrived until the time we left the service was faultless! A fabulous meal with all of our dishes perfectly cooked. The menu is different to anywhere else in Bordeaux we have been to, and it uses seasonal fresh produce. A great ambience - wines by the glass or bottle and a great range of wines. Centrally... More

Not sure what all the fuss is about this restaurant. We found it average and overpriced. It came recommended by our host at our B & B. Had the duck "burger" with foie - 6€ supplement on the 16€ menu and it was neither a "burger" or had much duck involved but lots of chopped red peppers, a small piece... More

Classic French restaurant....not fussy but fun....good food and friendly staff. Love their entre/plat/desert menu combos "le scoop". Good prices and serving sizes adequate without being too large. Each plate is artfully served. We went here 3 times during our visit!

We went to Scopitone based on another reviewer's comments and were not disappointed. The food was wonderful, causing us to go back for a second meal. The restaurant is simple in décor, etc., so the food is the real focus and it shows. Scopitone is on a small side alley in central Bordeaux and might get lost among all the... More

we just had arrived by train at lunchtime. given a suggestion by the receptionist we found the hidden small restaurant with it few tables on the street. our small lunch where a salad gourmets - and the name was right! fois gras, duck breast roasted and smoked on salad leafs and simple garnish very tasty - also the wines by... Caught by the rain, we went into this restaurant just off Place Gambetta. What a find ! The size and decor did not reflect the quality of the food. It was certainly one of the best meals I have had in this region - freshly cooked, well present and very reasonably priced. Staff were very helpful and explained areas of... More

If we were walking past this restaurant we wouldn't have gone in but it was recommended to us and we were glad we did. The food was excellent and well priced. We took the daily 3 course menu and other than the grilled vegetables (didn't seem to work for us as a dish) entree we were very happy with the... More
