We had dinner at Jean Ramet after a long day of sightseeing in and around Bordeaux. Friendly if somewhat understated welcome, and professional and attentive service. This is classical cooking with a twist - using local and regional produce combining them with more exotic spices and flavours. This mostly works, but not always. I had the three course seafood menu,... More

We had such marvelous food and service at Jean Ramet that we couldn't understand how it does not have a Michelin star. We received a warm and genuine welcome, and the service continued to be charming and attentive throughout the meal. I had the Menu Marin, a three-course seafood menu, starting with a gaspacho that had the tenderest mussels. The... More

Every time, I am in Bordeaux I try to have lunch at this restaurant and every time I have had a great welcoming, food, wine and service. The menu changes often following the seasons and the ingredients are of top quality. The dishes are all innovative by mixing great French cuisine with spices and exotic ingredients to give an extra... More

We went there for a lunch with friends, remembering our good experience of a year ago. We were not disappionted,For a lunchmenu of about 30 euros the quality was extremely good. They offered an " amuse" on base of lobster, carefully seasoned. The first course consisted of "nems" (with a touch of ginger) and sardines. The main course : duck with... More

Great surprise! How did We find this restaurant? I've read in the book "The perfectionist", about the life of Bernard Loiseau. The writer talks about how are and where are the beginning Bernard's friends. Some of them, as Guy Savoy, for instance, is in Paris, with his 3 star michelin restaurant, and others are around the world. About Jean Ramet,... More

The staff here are extremely friendly and helpful. Three separate tasting menus availalble nightly (seafood, meat, veggie), all with creative twists - try the "fruit and spices" dessert option if available, it is a fun adventure. As are the oyster on a half shell paired with various inventive ingredients that make the plate more of an experience than a dish.... More

The staff greeted us and treated us perfectly on arrival . The food was well presented and was excellent. The turbot was the only disappointment as it was a little dry. This is a great place for a relaxing lunch but lacks the culinary excitement that would give it 5 stars.

Looking for a great lunch, with a slightly different menu, then this is the place. We found it by accident whilst sightseeing and enjoyed excellent food with great atmosphere and service. Well worth a visit if your looking for something different to the normal French Plat du Jour.

My wife and I ate here in August 2009 to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary and enjoyed an absolutely wonderful fine dining experience on that occasion. So much so that we decided to return more than 3 years later with 3 other family members at the end of December 2012. The food was still excellent and the service very very... More

After arriving, we waited nearly 25 minutes for anyone to approach us, whether for a drink order or to answer our many questions about the menu. Once we closed our menus (simple enough!), they came flocking - how wierd is that! Their English was enormously helpful and we received the kindest of efficient service all evening after this rocky start.... More
