We visited this fantastic seafood "Bistrot" for the third time in July and once again were massively impressed, set in a market it's not the most conventional of settings but it incorporates the most amazing atmosphere - up there at the top for us, and we've had some fab meals! Sea food platters, side orders of even more sea food... More

For a small price the best seafood. In a authentic environment, market hall, next to a tapas bar. Not to be missed.

Summary: top choice for informal lunch after looking at the market. The GOOD: - The fresh sea food is great and tastes fantastic - Prices are very reasonable (e.g. sea food platter for 1 for €11 for 3 oysters, lots of crabs, shrimps and sea snails) - It's very informal with tables squashed against each other, but the bustling sea... you want to feel local experience in Bordeaux? have a breakfast the way Bordeaux people have theirs? go to Marche des Capucins as early as possible and enjoy this authentic french cafe. the service is simply excellent and friendly. Oysters, local wine, food bread and people you love with you. that's good enough for a great start. that's also certainly... More

Great atmosphere of a busy market, fresh seafood is coming straight from the seafood stall opposite the bar. Freshest oysters, prawns, crabs, whelks - all at good prices. We opted for seafood only and were every bit satisfied. It was a bit chilly so their hot fish soup with Gruyère was very welcome. On Saturdays and Sundays and around lunchtime... More

Chez Jean Mi is in a jostling market so there's a really great atmosphere. You can get cheap wine (2 euros a glass) and then plates with charcuterie or cheese or a seafood boat filled with oysters, mussels, crab etc. The food is very good value and very fresh, they get it from the stalls surrounding the cafe/bar. The service... More

We missed eating lunch at the market on Sunday along the river, but were delighted by the atmosphere of Jean Mi, as well as the excellent seafood (cockles and mussels) and friendly staff.

This cafe/bar is located in the middle of the Marche Capucins and has a dozen or so mismatched tables and chairs. For the whole time we were there, the tables were full and everytime one became vacant, it was quickly snapped up. It was full of locals eating oysters and drinking local wine and we were happy to join them... More
