Wonderful seafood sitting in the Marche des Capucins

We had an excellent lunch here. 6 oysters each at 6.50 per plate and a plate of bulots each at similar price. Some bread, a glass of wine, and fresh oysters - what more could anyone want! Great service and a wonderful atmosphere.

Fun to have lunch in the middlecof a busy market! Freshest of seafood, wallet friendly, affordable wine, enthusiastic service and amazing people watching. Popular with locals as well as tourists. Charcuterie available for the shell fish shy but we noshed on oysters and bullots with a glass of wine, great bread and butter for around 13 euros each. Doesn't get... More

The seafood here is so fresh, the oysters opened just before being served are delicious. We also had the seafood soup, served with grated cheese, croutons and rouille and of course, bread and butter.......fantastic! The wines by the glass are reasonably priced, coffee excellent and the staff so friendly and helpful. Well worth a visit when at the Marche du... More

Sea food experience with great local atmosphere. The queue for seating was lengthy because this restaurant is so popular. Well worth it though. Seafood plate was varied with oysters, shell fish and prawns.

One of our reasons for visiting the Capuchins. Lunch here is fabulous. Oysters are great. Seafood platter is really fine. In the cooler days, try the fish soup. Always add a nice dry white wine to complete the meal.

We visited this fantastic seafood "Bistrot" for the third time in July and once again were massively impressed, set in a market it's not the most conventional of settings but it incorporates the most amazing atmosphere - up there at the top for us, and we've had some fab meals! Sea food platters, side orders of even more sea food... More

For a small price the best seafood. In a authentic environment, market hall, next to a tapas bar. Not to be missed.

Summary: top choice for informal lunch after looking at the market. The GOOD: - The fresh sea food is great and tastes fantastic - Prices are very reasonable (e.g. sea food platter for 1 for €11 for 3 oysters, lots of crabs, shrimps and sea snails) - It's very informal with tables squashed against each other, but the bustling sea... you want to feel local experience in Bordeaux? have a breakfast the way Bordeaux people have theirs? go to Marche des Capucins as early as possible and enjoy this authentic french cafe. the service is simply excellent and friendly. Oysters, local wine, food bread and people you love with you. that's good enough for a great start. that's also certainly... More

Great atmosphere of a busy market, fresh seafood is coming straight from the seafood stall opposite the bar. Freshest oysters, prawns, crabs, whelks - all at good prices. We opted for seafood only and were every bit satisfied. It was a bit chilly so their hot fish soup with Gruyère was very welcome. On Saturdays and Sundays and around lunchtime... More
