Description: Tucked away into Place Tartas, a stone's throw from centreville, is Soléna, owned by chef Aurélien Crosato, a Bordeaux native and Serena Lee, a native San Franciscan. Classically trained, Aurélien spent 2 ½ years broadening and honing his culinary palette in the foggy city before returning to his hometown. Market driven 3 and 5 course menus stay true to the Sud Ouest region with original and eye opening combinations, such as venison ravioli with aged gouda, soy-glazed magret, foie gras with foraged herbs, and mesquite smoked sturgeon. A solid wine list spans terroirs from juicy, ripe St. Josephs to bucket list Bordeaux vintages, or a glass of Maury to accompany that Turkish spiced Grand Cru chocolate mousse.OUR HOURS: Wednesday through Saturday 20h00 to 21h30 Sunday lunch 12h00 to 14h00 and Sunday dinner 19h30 to 21h30

Knowing that we would want a leisurely Sunday lunch on our last day in Bordeaux, I did some research on Trip Advisor before we travelled, and found Solena. I am so glad I did, as we would not have just stumbled upon it - it is well off the beaten track, although actually not that far to walk, when you... More

We wondered what we'd be able to find for lunch on Sunday in Bordeaux as many places are closed. Impressed by all the great reviews and delighted to find that they had a table open for Sunday lunch, we made the easy walk from Place Gambetta. So glad we did! The food was fabulous. Seasonal, fresh and flavorful, but nothing... More

Booking made one month in advanced based on Michelin one star and other tourist advisor reviews. Exceeded expectations in all respects. Contemporary understated interiors, eight tables, very attentive service and intriguing menu choices. Preparation, plating and combination of flavors and textures innovative without going to extremes. Three of us had nine dishes from a la carte menu-3 appetizers, 3 main... More

Local restaurant with nice wine list. Comfortable atmosphere, good food and nice prices. Warm and attentive staff in this quaint spot off the beaten path. Nice start to a Bordeaux visit.

After overnight travel from US first night meals can be iffy. We tried Solena because of the good reviews and we're not disappointed. Relaxed dining in an informal setting was what we needed BUT much more important was the quality and presentation of the food--an instant reminder that we were back in France. Having the chef come out and talk... More

We just returned from one of the best and creative meals we have ever had, and modestly (for France) priced for three amazing courses. The chef blends favors, hot and cold, sweet and savory like an artist. The plate also looks like you should photograph it before you eat it, and hang the picture in your home. The contempory setting,... More

My wife and i visited Solena this past September as part of our 30th wedding anniversary trip so we were looking for special restaurants in the cities that we visited - Paris, Bordeaux, Positano and Rome. Our visit to Solena was one of the highlights of our trip in Europe. The food was unique and inspiring. The service including Amelie... More

Unassuming and relaxed but the food was very thoughtful in its amalgamation of ingredients and absolutely delicious. Despite being pressed, the waitress was patient with our lack of French and helped us choose a wine exactly to our taste. The 5 course degustation extended itself with generous amuse bouche and petit fours. Open on a Sunday and able to take... More

Reading other reviews I expected sharply contrasting flavours. And for the mise en Bouche and entree we were not disappointed. (Mackerel with squash, chicken with Parmesan cream, home smoked salmon , deliciously tender with mustard cream and herbs) Main course was a two chop rack of lamb with gratineed onion. A master stroke. The lamb was the most flavoursome I... More
