Description: Tucked away into Place Tartas, a stone's throw from centreville, is Soléna, owned by chef Aurélien Crosato, a Bordeaux native and Serena Lee, a native San Franciscan. Classically trained, Aurélien spent 2 ½ years broadening and honing his culinary palette in the foggy city before returning to his hometown. Market driven 3 and 5 course menus stay true to the Sud Ouest region with original and eye opening combinations, such as venison ravioli with aged gouda, soy-glazed magret, foie gras with foraged herbs, and mesquite smoked sturgeon. A solid wine list spans terroirs from juicy, ripe St. Josephs to bucket list Bordeaux vintages, or a glass of Maury to accompany that Turkish spiced Grand Cru chocolate mousse.OUR HOURS: Wednesday through Saturday 20h00 to 21h30 Sunday lunch 12h00 to 14h00 and Sunday dinner 19h30 to 21h30

We had a wonderful meal at Solena, the foie gras with cherries and rhubarb totally inspired, the turbot perfectly cooked, the lemon and apricot desserts delicious. The service was excellent, and it was impressive to see the (obviously experienced) waitress in charge teaching a new, young recruit, with real commitment. Wine list good, with interesting options, and the waitress knew... More

Went to Solena for an anniversary dinner and loved it. A small family run restaurant the food is prepared with love and fresh ingredients. Although the menu has only 2 options for freshness and quality's sake, the cook was happy to prepare a separate vegetarian menu after we reserved in advance. Definitely the place to go eating out in Bordeaux... More

Sunday was my wife’s birthday, a marker birthday in fact. That called for a special dinner. There were a couple of challenges. It was a Sunday evening and it was Mother’s Day in France. I had been looking for new places in Bordeaux with creative chefs doing interesting things with fresh ingredients. Well, I found an excellent one in Soléna... More

We eat here on the basis of the no. 4 rating on Trip Advisor. While it was quite pleasant I do not understand the rating. Food was pretty good and fair value, but the location is somewhat seedy and the interior cramped. But least impressive was the service, never speedy in France I like, but nearly 3 hours for a... We ate here on a Sunday as it is very difficult to find a good french restaurant that opens on a Sunday evening. It was a fair walk from our hotel but well worth it. The food was wonderful and we both had pigeon for the main course which is one of the nicest we have had. The staff were... More

We enjoyed the 5 course tasting menu and it was fantastic. I contacted the restaurant to book a table for our anniversary, i mentioned whilst booking that my husband can't eat fish and they were extrememely helpful and said it was not a problem at all as they would make our menu around our likes. The restaurant is only small... More

We tried the tasting menu (Carte Blanche) which consisted of a couple of starters, two mains and dessert. They also included an appetizer and some chocolates. The appetizer and starters were really good, mains were not as good and desert was ok. Presentation had really been worked on. The atmosphere was very nice and the waiters did their best to... More

I suppose sometimes a high rating on TA sets up unrealistic expectations. As my wife and I spoke with the wife of the restaurant owner (who was our server), we found that she was from San Francisco, and we engaged in a light but warm conversation. The fixed price menu was slightly on the expensive side. As the food came,... More
