Small restaurant, but nicely decorated and with an intimate touch. Perfect for couples, not so perfect for famally meals, as the tables are limited to two diners. The best choice is to get the tasting menu, where you are presented with an aperitif and five tasting dishes including desert. There is also a tasting menu that offers more than five... More

The savours of Restaurant Solena are full of surprise and delight. That simple sentence could describe the cuisine at Solena, but it says nothing about the seemingly endless creativity of it’s creator Chef Aurelien Crosato. We discovered this little jewel box restaurant last year when we were looking for a restaurant to celebrate my wife’s birthday. We ordered off the... More

Our first meal in Bordeaux recommended by our hotel host who used to own a restaurant before. We had the duck and pork. They were very well cooked and the wine recommended by the waitress was elegant and wonderful. Good eat overall.

My husband and I went to dinner here and he loved the food, but I wasn't as keen. I found the meat to be a little tough and the combination of flavours just a little strange, whereas he loved it. There isn't much of an atmosphere as it is way too brightly lit. The service was very good with very... More

A shame this one - wife's birthday whilst in Bordeaux and wanted something special. Left having quite enjoyed the meal but it felt a bit cramped and was an unremarkable dining experience. At half the price I'd have raised the review to Good.

I have a walking tour company here in Bordeaux and on occasions I recommend restaurants to my clients. Off the beaten path, I took my friend & business partner out to dine for a special occasion. I had heard from some of my Canadian clients that Solena was an excellent restaurant and it happens to be just behind the corner... More

Set in a residential neighborhood, Soléna offers good meals with a personal interpretation of the Chef. Sometimes dressing seems to be preferred to harmony, with many ingredients served to enrich visually the plate.

We booked Solena based on recommendations and they were correct. We chose the 5 course degustation menu and requested that wines be matched to the food. The meal started with 2 amuse bouche, mackerel cerviche and chicken, both tasty and unusual. Then organic abalone followed by a very good fois gras. The next course was sea bass with wonderfully crisp... More
