I had a reservation for tonight at 7pm, and I received a text (from The Fork) at 5:45pm saying that my reservation was canceled. No explanation given. Very poor form, Fernand.

Judging by the reviews this is a marmite type of restaurant - people seem to love it or loath it in equal measure. We had a truly memorable lunch sitting outside. We speak French but staff could and willingly spoke English, were friendly and attentive. We shared a starter ( langoustines) and a plate of cheese before we had dessert,... More

Dined here with family and friends for my brother-in-laws 60th. Fabulous food, great service and a lovely place. Definitely worth a visit for a special occasion. They even catered for unusual requests.

Dined here last week with family on a visit from Chicago; despite miserable weather we arrived between showers and were rewarded with a great view of the illuminated riverfront. Service was attentive but discreet and the food was well-priced and very good: the fish lasagne and grilled sole were particularly well received. Three of us ate from the fixed menu... More

The location is good along the Gironde river. Unfortunately the food was very average. This place is totally overrated.

Don't go, the oysters were ordinary, rest of meal was average to poor... Ordered the oysters, duck, and monkfish. The oysters were mostly small, one was dry, and poorly schucked (still attached to shell and full of gritty broken shell). The alleged no.0 oyster (which should indicate a minimum size of 100g) was tiny, and the rest were just cheap... More

We had a reservation and they still acted like we were encroaching on their evening. We noticed we got every single dish served as an afterthought to others who came in with larger parties or after us. Our first server spoke a little English and finally somewhat deserted us and another waitress helped us who was much nicer. We spoke... More

If you go to Fernand, enjoy the terrace, good wine and fresh seafood, eg oysters, lobster, but avoid cooked dishes. We had a (recommended) coquilles/risotto dish at EUR 22 which did not pass the test. The risotto was overcooked and not hot, and the coquilles were "miniscules". A classic rip off. Staff was friendly and efficient. - Change the cook!

I went here with a big group (over 25 persons) and the restaurant served a very good meal. We started with a big slice of pâté (mixed, including a piece of foie gras), served with an excellent choice of bread. The main course was a good thick piece of beef with a selection of sides. Dessert was a less remarkable... More

Fernand is a delightful seafood restaurant that I would have liked to have given a higher rating, but unfortunately I can only rate on what we were served . My wife and I ate here last night. She was in the mood for seafood, I wanted a steak. The restaurant has a distressed French period decor that is quite delightful... More
