Worth the price

Michelin 1 star very well priced for the quality. Excellent food, beautifully prepared. Would definitely return to Umami.

When I reserved at this deservedly Michelin one star restaurant and said I eat gluten free I was warmed there might be menu restrictions because soy sauce is often used in its Japanese inflected cooking. No problem. Wonderful and subtle dishes all. And the chef had baked a buckwheat-corn loaf for me as good as any GF bread I had... More

We came for the seven courses tasting menu but choosing our own wines and thoroughly enjoyed all the courses. The whole thing was lovely and we found the service was impeccable (our friend lives in Strasbourg and knows the owners well). I was amazed that the Chef was on his own cooking the meals and this wife served all the... More

Everything was perfect. Tasty food, great service and amazing atmosphere. This restaurant has only 8 or 10 tables, so it's better to book in advance.

Food at Umami is really tasty (one Michelin star) and with 50 Euros for a four course menu it is very good value for money. The restaurant is quite small with a slightly Asian look and feel and you need to reserve a table. Umami´s main issue is the service. Apparently, a couple runs the restaurant - he cooks and... More

We really had a hard time to get a reservation at this place, but after trying several times we succeeded. The food is really good and so is the wine, i think the wine where served in to small portions (very small glasses. We where four people, wanting to talk and have fun, but Umami is a quite small place... More

Great location in Petite France. Small restaurant (perhaps 24 covers) and one waitress, but the service was very good. Opted for the tasting menu, which was also very good, and a local and reasonably priced white wine. Deserves a Michelin star and would return.

We raved about this restaurant a few years ago, and went back this year expecting the world...Well, that was not to be. The amuse-bouches were quite good, but some dishes were awful: the shrimp were too sugary, the lamb shoulder (you serve lamb shoulder in a one * Michelin restaurant?) was just too fatty, could not eat the darn thing.... Travelling with a dog can be a bit tricky. Altough our dog is not exactly small we were allowed to bring her to the restaurant. She is well behaved of course. We were very happy that we could eat again at Umami as we had done the year before by ourselves. Last year we had dinner there, this time it... More

Nice place for our anniversary dinner. Booked table a month in advance and got the last table. The manager seemed really flustered at first but then relaxed and was more open as the night went on. The meal was very nice. Very high quality ingredients and interesting combinations in the dishes. Nice wine pairing. Great value for the quality meal!... More
