Unique setting good food

This afternoon we had lunch at Gurtlerhoft per recommendation of our hotel agent for dinner last night but they were fully committed. The ambiance is phenomenal since its situated in a traditional "caveau" or cave. We had the mushroom puff pastry to start.... Delish! And my husband and I had flammenkuchen which is an Alsatian specialty. We left so full... More

Tradicional French restaurant with alsacian specialities in the menu. It is located in the centre of Strasbourg, in the cathedral square. Good quality of food and nice service. We spent around 25€/pax white wine included and without desserts.

I went with a few friends for dinner. I am a vegetarian, so cannot comment too much about the food there are however good choice of salads and tarte flambee. The service was good and very courteous.

This wonderful restaurant occupies a delightful below ground setting rumored to have once been the wine cellar for the Cathedral. Today its menu and reasonable wine list attract locals and tourists alike. The Alsatian style coq au vin prepared with Riesling and the Suprême de Volaille in a savory mushroom and cream sauce are among my favorite dishes, but there... More

The restaurant is underground, set in an old cellar which definitively gives it its charm. We went on a Sunday lunchtime and though the place was packed, we were still served by speedy and friendly staff. The food is typical Alsatian cuisine cooked to perfection and the portions are gigantic. You will have to starve yourselves prior to going there... More

We wanted a quiet Alsacien dinner and found this establishment "in the cellar". Good food, wine and beer. Seemed popular with the locals - many who were well known to the waiters / waitresses. As mentioned by other reviewers, the tables were mixed - some couples like us, many groups (office groups, Students, Families). Was "full" when we arrived, but... More

The Caveau Gurtlerhoft seems to be able to cater to every type of guest. We dined near tables with lovers, business guests, families, and a few other tourists. Some had full dinners, while others just ordered desserts and coffee. They have created a very friendly atmosphere. We truly enjoyed our dinner of tarte flambee and a salad, then the Baeckeoffe... We went here after a recommendation from the hotel we were staying at. We didn't have a booking but got there early and they were able to accommodate us. Only half an hour later they were turning people away though so I would recommend booking to avoid disappointment. They didn't have an English menu but we were able to order... More
