Nice Restaurant in "Petit France" area (Strasbourg)

This restaurant is located in a touristic place of Strasbourg (Petit France) and the food is very good. The waiters are pleasant. We eat Menu Alsacien - Formule Baeckeoffe (21 Euros per person) + 2 big beers (6,10 each one). The menu has an started an a big stew. In summer you should outside. I can... read more

This was our third restaurant during our stay and a good choice. Nice location, good for people watching if you can get on the small terrace. I had a baeckeoffe and my wife a massive baked knuckle of ham and enough choucroute to feed an army. Very enjoyable but spoilt by the fact we could not finish it. It always... More

This restaurant reflects the diversity of the area. The French German integration of these two cultures happen here. French-german and then theres German-French. This is reflected in the food types presentations and servings. Beautiful area cute town and good food and service.

We had a long relaxed weekend lunch here. We went for the formule baeckeoffe, which we thought good value at €21 for a salad, baeckeoffe main and dessert. The waiter was charming and helpful and there was no trouble checking with the kitchen on dietary requirements. It turns out that all the baeckeoffe, apart from the fish one, are gluten... More

Enjoyed the meal very much, service was efficient but not overly friendly. Our waitress understood very little English, but we were still able to make it through our meal without much trouble. The baeckeoffe was VERY good, and so was the fois gras. The tarte flambee just ok.

We went there for dinner for 5, we ordered local delicacies such as Flammkuchen (Tarte Flambée), Alsace's choucroute, and of course, as the name of the restaurant suggest, the famous Baeckeoffe (the traditional one, then one with duck meat, and another one with fish) We were seated inside of the restaurant, in a warm and comfortable corner, the interior design... This is perhaps our fourth visit to this restaurant, mainly because they specialize in baeckeoffe (traditional meat and potato casserole), as the name suggests. My experiences have been a little mixed. Have had the lamb version twice, first time the meat was tender, and the second time very tough. We have also tried the duck variety – excellent – and... Good setting in petit France. The service was good and starters were nice. However the main meals were not great. We tried the traditional baeckoffe, it contained poor meat and had little flavour. My husband had the beef fillet which was well cooked and tasty. The wines were variable. We had tried to book many other places, but they were... More

On my recent three-week excursion to Germany, with a few days in France (and where better than Strasbourg?). with a week's stay in Switzerland, I tried to sample local cuisine, local wine and beer and so on whenever possible. In Strasbourg I had already tried Flammkuchen (or Tarte Flambée, as you like it) but I had yet to try what... More

On Wednesday, September 24, we found the prefect place for our lunch in Petite France. I was hoping to find a place serving pate de foie gras d'Alsace and there it was at Le Baeckeoffe. The server was very friendly and helpful in recommending a wine to accompany it. She suggested Verre Gewurz which turned out to be perfect. This... More
