Good Alcacian restaurant

We visiting Colmar quite often and decided spontaneously to have lunch in Maison Rouge. The restaurant is located between the city center and petite Venice. Not sure if there is a terrace, and if yes, the view would not be special. It was Wednesday around 13.30 and the ground level was full - a... read more

Starters were good, onion tart and salad were good but my home cooked ham was burnt, stringy and so salty I could hardly eat any, and I usually find restaurant food not salty enough. My wife's veal in cheese sauce was so rich it made us both feel a little sick. The puddings were mostly aerosol cream and sickly and... More

After reading reviews and it was in the Michelin guide we had high expectations & for the price and menu we were expecting fine dining. To be fair the starters, salad and onion tart was all very tasty. The mains, pork which looked tantalising on the way in was unedibly salty, i love capers, anchovies etc, but after 2 mouthfull's... My wife and I usually do a lot of research before choosing a place to eat while on vacation. We rely on Trip Advisor as well as other sources. We were disappointed with Maison Rouge. The flavors just were not there, my wife had the off the bone ham, I had the pastry chicken. I have to say I have... More

You are greeted at the door by a large ham shoulder cooking on a rotisserie. Delicious and so moist. Definitely for the meat eaters. But then all Alsace is a gourmet delight. Great atmosphere in traditional surroundings.

we asked around and someone recommended us this restaurant. It looked and smelled good, but seems you rather have a reservation. Just keep in mind when you want to go there. (we were lucky with another brasserie)

Great recommendation by our Hotel (Saint Martin). I was a little exceptical at first, but the place is very good, nice traditional decor, with hundreds of tiny wine barrels. Great place to try Tarte Flambé and also a type of pasta which name I cannot remember. Overall, great dining experience at reasonable prices. Staff was helpful, they provided menus in... More

Very nice decor, warm and inviting. Service was excellent. We had 2 dinners at this restaurant during our 4 day stay in Colmar. The food was excellent although the 'Assiette du Vigneron' would have been better with less fatty products.

My wife and I had a lovely dinner here recently and discovered this was one of our nicer restaurant experiences while traveling in the Alsace. The staff was friendly and courteous. Menus are available in French and English, and our waitress spoke better English than I did French. The ambiance was great and the food was wonderful. It's a small... More

We arrived at peak time, the place was packed, but we did manage to get a table. Took awhile to be waited on, but once they finally got to us the food came in good time. The "pancake" appetizers are very good - and for sharing! We ate ham on the bone which was tasty but extremely salty.
