A good traditional Alsacian restaurant in Colmar

If you want a classical Alsacian cuisine in the tradition of last century, Restaurant Bartholdi is the place to go. I can recommend the "Choucroute" (sauerkraut) which is excellent. The owner can explain to you (with thick Alsacian accent) the origin of the restaurant and show you the nice... read more

We chose a fine traditional meal in this charming restaurant. We shared a seasonal white asparagus first course, followed by veal and pork with fresh mushrooms in a wonderful gravy with home-made spaetzle. Our knowledgeable waitress helped us pick the perfect wine, and our only regret was that we had no room for dessert. Fortunately, we had been advised to... More

This restaurant was recommended by the wine shop that we passed (and had visited before) after we disembarked from the bus from the Freiburg train-bus combo. As other reviewers have remarked, it is indeed a warm, family-run restaurant in the center of the old city. They graciously seated us for lunch and everyone around us was enjoying the choucroute garni,... More

My wife and I lunched at this restaurant. Although the restaurant was busy, we received a warm welcome. We decided not to go for the Alsacian dishes as we had experienced these in Strasbourg. The "numero deux" oysters were large and succulent. My beef (not horse!) steak was tender and served with a delicious green pepper sauce, as was my... More

We just happened onto this restaurant. We had a lovely table on the patio and it turned out to be a wonderful meal and experience.

We found this restaurant by fluke and were not disappointed, the elderly waitress was so efficient and welcoming, the food was very good traditional and local. We got served quickly and always with a smile. Highly recommend it!

As a group of seven, we ate here at relatively short notice, but were made to feel very welcome with excellent food. Well priced, high quality local starters and mains, a good wine selection (particularly of local alsace whites), and a warm and attentive service made for a lovely night. Approximate price for a three course meal with wine (2... More

Their moules (mussels) are to die for. Get the meunière or a la crime, which both are phenomenal. Service is amazing and all the food is prepared and served before your eyes by the serves. Servers are very friendly and conversational. Wine selections are great and trust the servers knowledge and recommendation of the servers, especially Christianne, she is this... More
