Visited the English Lounge last weekend and enjoyed a very tasty Sunday lunch. Downstairs was quite busy at 1pm so we were shown to the upstairs restaurant. Very attentive staff, with prompt service. Lots of tables were reserved but it still had a relaxed feel. Food was well cooked, hot and tasty. Two main meals for £20 in the city... More

I can remember many moons ago when this was a really tacky pub that you wouldn't go near. Not now. It's been recreated for some considerable time now as a warm and friendly, traditionally laid out pub. Full of nooks and crannies with eating areas both at ground level and upstairs. Food varies from nibbles and bar snacks through to... More

We went here for a Fathers day meal and we all enjoyed it. Everyone really enjoyed our meal which was fantastic and there was plenty of it which is always a bonus! Best garlic bread with cheese I've ever had too! Drinks are a bit pricey but the food is very reasonable. The pub itself is traditional yet clean, fresh... More

Visited here when recently on a home trip to Manchester. Food fantastic, great atmosphere, good selection of cask ales, and all in the city's Northern Quarter! Brilliant, I recommend a visit.

I had been told that I would not like this venue, but I did! The menu was good and it was two courses for £15. The starter and main course were excellent and the portion size was good. It is an unusual venue. A pub downstairs and a restaurant with chandeliers upstairs. The atmosphere was great and I would definitely... More

My son and I had lunch here recently. He had mussels with crusty bread and they were amazing. The were huge. I had a pie which was very good too. My only criticism is that the chips were not home made. I would definitely go back.

My daughter and I visited the English Lounge on a wet Manchester afternoon and were pleasantly surprised how good the whole experience was. We sat upstairs which was quieter and served good fresh sandwiches and chips with a really nice house wine. They were decent portions and great value. Would definitely go again.

My husband and I ate at the English Lounge last Sunday and had one of the best meals out ever. I chose the turkey Sunday lunch which was fantastic and plentiful and my husband had the lamb and mint pie, which he has told everybody about. The staff could not do enough for you and NEVER had a minute. They... More
