We'd promised ourselves a Chinese for the Lady Wife's Birthday, as we were in Manchester and the Rice Bowl had been recommended, we gave it a go. Got there earlyish, heard it could get busy, decided to have a starter and then a duck, then decide if mains were in order. Had the crispy wan ton starter, small bit of... More

On our way back from London we were invited by friends to stay at their home just outside of Manchester. The venue for the evening was the Rice Bowl on Cross Street. We have dined here several years ago when the restaurant was under a different name. The restaurant was very clean and modern. Now to the good part the... More

The meal was very good and the service could not be faulted. We had not pre booked but it was fairly quiet for a Monday evening. My only complaint would be wet wipes were given instead of hot towels and no fortune cookies which I love!

Me and a friend went here and enjoyed the very reasonably priced lunch. 2 courses for aprox £7. This also came with complementary prawn crackers and dips and some orange and melon at the end of the meal. It has been more than a few years since I last ate here and I am really pleased to see that the... More

we ate here on a visit to manchester and loved it, the service and the food were amazing, we had a sizzling mixed sharing platter to start and loved it, every dish was cooked to perfection, we did wait a little while for our mains but as the restaurant was busy and everything is cooked fresh we could understand why.... For years a Chinese meal meant a George street restaurant, but after a few very average lunches and consulting Tripadvisor we headed to the Rice Bowl, which is situated away from the main Chinese quarter. I wish we had found it earlier. I don't know how they do such a superb meal for the price. We started with complimentary prawn... More

Went here for a birthday lunch after reading the reviews. We were seated straight away and served with drinks. The tables were very close together and we felt unable to have any sort of private conversation. As already stated elsewhere we were served by a variety of staff - and subsequently one starter was forgotten and we had to ask... More

Have walked passed this restaurant a number of times, and glad we didn't last week. The food was absolutely delicious. I've had quite a few Chinese meals in various towns and cities around the country but this has been the best one I've had for a long time. Good choice of dishes on menu. Very clean. Some of the staff... More

I and two friends were in Manchester for the week end and after our visit to Old Trafford we decided to visit this restaurant having read the excellent reviews in these columns. We had booked for 8 pm and we arrived at 7.55 only to find a queue on the stairs leading to the basement restaurant. Some said that they... More
