Set lunch is great value in city centre

Popped in on Sunday lunchtime, restaurant was quiet initially but got steadily busier during the afternoon. The set menu two course lunch for £7.95 is incredible value, it comes with a generous basket of prawn crackers to begin and even fruit for after the meal. The staff were very attentive and... read more

Been here several times and always had a lovely meal with great service. Today's service was abysmal to say the least. Never got the prawn crackers that everyone gets upon arrival, until the server said oh do you want prawn crackers only upon serving the starters, ordered a beer, which never turned up, luckily was not on the bill, then... My wife, parents and I visited Sunday May 25th. During the main course my wife found a piece of metal in her mouth which had come from her sizzling lamb dish. We called the waiter over and the metal was taken away for examination. The manageress later appeared to explain in a very offhand way that mistakes happen and the... More

The food was ok (I've had better) but the real bug-bear (literally) was the fact we were chased around the restaurant by flies. Having moved tables they were still swarming us during our main course! In a word "ewwwww".

Not been to Rice Bowl for years but it still delivers top food and service. My friends and I opted for the early evening set menu (1 starter and 1 main course, £12.95). Starters included curry beef samosas and mochi dumplings (fried sticky rice dumpling with minced chicken vegetables in a chilli yellow bean sauce). Mains were more varied from... More

Went for lunch with friends, including a couple from China. Even in the top end Chinatown restaurants there is not a lot of authenticity about the food, but this place is great. We let our Chinese friends choose and we all had the £17.95 banquet. Everyone agreed that it was authentic and really good. There were lots of people eating... More

Found the Rice Bowl by chance after a particularly frenetic shopping session. It was an oasis of calm and I was soon downing a chinese beer while looking at the menu. I was in time for the 'early' menu which is really good value. Having convinced myself that I ought to cut down on the amount of meat I eat,... More

A big thumbs to Trip Advisor's reviews. My husband and I decided to visit during a busy Saturday lunchtime. It was worth navigating the roadwork and hoardings outside and following the clear temporary signage to locate this hidden gem. The lunchtime menu is amazing value at £7.95 for a starter and main and prawn crackers thrown in while you peruse... More

I ate here at "The Rice Bowl" having searched on TripAdvisor for an Chinese restaurant near where i was staying. I was here with a colleague and both of us comment on how very good the food was, very flavourful and good portion sizes. We had starters and mains both were excellent. The staff were very attentive without being too... More

I had taken my niece to Manchester for a birthday treat with her cousin. Her favourite cuisine is chinese and so I looked at reviews and chose the Rice Bowl. It lived up to all expectations with delicious food and fantastic service. They were lovely to the girls and when Alice couldn't manage her final dish they let us cancel... More
