Manchester might be awash with slick dining outfits but none quite like Ning. Unlike many others, Ning values subtlety and sophistication both in its style and its cuisine. Influenced by the noodle bars of Asia's cities, this Northern Quarter venue offers a bustling ambience somewhere between trendy canteen and chichi bistro. With polished wood tables, voguish floral patterned wallpaper and candlelit tables, the interior strikes a similar balance of fashionable buzz meets classy intimacy. Led by award-winning celebrity Malaysian chef Norman Musa, the predominately authentic Malaysian menu also offers Thai and fusion dishes, all made with fresh ingredients, free from MSG. Ning's chefs pride themselves on producing a concise menu of carefully selected and well cooked dishes, and service is attentive without being over-bearing. Malaysian hospitality and food.

very well presented food

I had a 2 course deal and was nice. as a starters I took "calamari" that were very well presented but a bit unseasoned, anyway with the deep spicy sauce happened the miracle. As a main course I had "gulai" and jasmine rice...I enjoyed only the sauce because the prawn were a bit chewy but the mix of... read more

Attended this restaurant as part of a birthday celebration with a group of 23 people. The service was brilliant and the food was absolutely lovely. Would definitely recommend and hopefully we'll be back soon :)

The first thing I noticed was that the staff was very friendly and attentive. I ordered the Thai Fish Cakes and the Gulai curry with prawns and jasmine rice. Both meals were excellent and served in reasonable portions. There pricing was alright, at least compared to a Switzerland standard. I'd definitely visit Ning again in case I come back to... More

I have been using Trip advisor to look at restaurants and hotels for many years. I have always thought that I should contribute as well - to share my experiences. Several times I have been somewhere and thought 'I should write a review about this place' but have never quite got round to it. Well now I have. Ning has... More

Always keen to try out malaysian restaurants in uk to satisfy my cravings! Very satisfied with the range of malaysian food menu. Had the fried kuey teow (char kuay teow) & it does taste like from home! Highly recommended.

Went a few days ago and had tom yam soup to start, was quite bad actually, i picked the meat out and left the rest. I order these soups often, and this one was oily and had a strange consistency. The main made up somewhat, seafood pad thai was well cooked with a great flavour, not sure if I would... More

This was my first visit and I took my wife and parents at 9pm on a Saturday night after the cinema. I used the online booking system which worked perfectly and it was full so we wouldn't have got a table otherwise. The restaurant isn't very big and because it was full, the noise made it difficult to hear each... More

Ok, so its been a while since I wrote a review. But this place deserves some recognition. I came in because I don't think I had tried Malaysian food. They do both Malaysian and Thai. I ordered the veggie spring rolls, some chicken Tom Yum soup, and some Nyonya Lime Curry, which I had never tried. Anyway, the spring rolls... More

Walked in Saturday and was lucky to get a seat. Atmosphere was buzzing and there are plenty of staff to look after you. Waiter did a nice touch for us as we wanted to share a spring roll starter which normally came with 5 rolls but he gave us 6. Good selection of drinks and wine. Food was full of... More
