Manchester might be awash with slick dining outfits but none quite like Ning. Unlike many others, Ning values subtlety and sophistication both in its style and its cuisine. Influenced by the noodle bars of Asia’s cities, this Northern Quarter venue offers a bustling ambience somewhere between trendy canteen and chichi bistro. With polished wood tables, voguish floral patterned wallpaper and candlelit tables, the interior strikes a similar balance of fashionable buzz meets classy intimacy. The South East Asian fusion menu offers mainly Thai and Malay dishes made with fresh ingredients, free from MSG. Ning’s chefs pride themselves on producing a concise menu of carefully selected and well cooked dishes.

Very good food, bad service. Not one for a quiet meal.

We visited Ning on a Saturday evening, there were no free tables later than 6.30 so we knew it was going to be busy, but I was surprised that the majority of diners were in large groups, and this contributed to the noise level - this isn't a place for a quiet romantic meal, at least not on a... read more

This restaurant is a real gem of a place. The staff are very welcoming and polite. The food is extremly good and full of flavour. Overall very good value for money. Would definitly visit again.

I lived very close to Ning and passed by it several times, however I haven't tried it until my last month before moving out of Manchester and now I wish I had tried it before! I went there with some colleagues from work as a goodbye meal and it was an excellent night! The food selection is wide and the... More

I've been here once before, and decided to go again and with another couple since we had originally rated it quite highly, our second visit however was sadly dissapointing. When we arrived we were welcomed quite warmly and asked to wait in a small waiting area, we were not offered any drinks while we waited, and I was surprised we... More

Have walked past so many times on my way to The Castle (amazing pub!) and always thought. Ning looked very inviting. Decor quite nice, service ok (more staff came in during our meal and things improved rapidly) - the real star of the show here is the food - soft shell crabs were out of this world as was the... We went for a birthday treat and were not disappointed. The food and service were first class. How the food was presented was both unexpected and delightful.

Usually I use Ning for take-away, as I have friends who live in the neighborhood and we all love Ning and its Malaysian food. Last night, though, I brought a friend for dinner. We ate early so it wasn't very crowded, but it began to fill up before we left. The food was excellent, as has always been my experience,... More

By far the best in Europe offering an authentic taste of HOME! Great service, well presented and most of all, food for all the senses. Just the ticket for a warming winter meal.

Been here twice now and general impression is it's ok, not awful but not amazing either. Nice decor, staff very friendly etc and decent choice of Asian beers. The food is nice but it's never blown me away (the soft shell crabs were tasty though). A safe bet for a quick bite to eat but better places in Manchester like... More
