Food OK, Shabby Venue

This particular Kro Bar is in the middle of Manchester University, so ambiance is obviously out of the question. It also faces a busy road, outside seating being as un-atmospheric as that inside. The toilets were scuzzy, with neither paper hand towels nor drying machines - fine if you fancy eating... read more

The restaurant provides a mostly Danish menu and to a high standard. I was visiting my daughter at University and her brother had come down from York so this choice of restaurant was perfect for us. The main meal was hearty and comforting and the desserts equally wonderful. The menu is not extensive but what they do provide is excellent.

Mushroom bruschetta - at the most, 4 chopped mini mushrooms. Fish finger sandwich - 3 mini fingers. Poor portions, poor value. Give it a miss.

We had dinner here before a concert at the church next door. What a lovely meal - my daughter and I had prawn and salmon salads with fiery horseradish relish - scrumptious. My husband had a tasty burger and chips, although he didn't like the homemade tomato sauce. Mojitos were 2 for 1 - so it would have been madness... More

Been a few times now just for drinks, Haven't tried the food but what I saw looked good, good fairly priced drinks, bar service was a little low but staff friendly enough, they do some great deals during the week especially for students, will be back soon

A relaxed yet lively, studenty bar cum simple eatery centrally located in the Manchester University area. The front area has a nice, long wood bar with comfy sofas and some tables. There is wooden bench seating in the back. Music is loudish and lively - we enjoyed it. We had a delicious late breakfast - eggs on English muffins or... More

I booked a table with a friends for a celebration, I had a good prospects about this place. After been in this place I paid a lot of money for a hamburguer (arround £12) for a completly dry and burned meat. I my case for 2 people I paid £40 for 1 started, 2 main courses and 2 pints... It... More

Good beer and place to hang out with friends especially after uni. But one of the staff threatened or said he had the right to kick us out of the place over a crisps and being rude as well. Not even allow to put into our bag so we let him take it away. Bad customer service Bad impression especially... More

First of all; they have a Danish menu, NOT Dutch (I would know because I am Dutch). The KRO bar is a student bar and offers different snacks and mains. These are overpriced and are not really big portions. For a student bar the food is ok. Staff is very helpful. Upstairs is more comfortable to sit, because downstairs are... More

Good beer selection, both on tap and in bottles. The food is strongly elevates traditional Gastro Pub fare in that it has an extensive menu and offers a variety of Dutch favorites, which definitely compliment the beers! I was there twice over the weekend, first enjoying the Danish meat balls (Frikadeller) and next enjoying the pork schnitzel with fried egg,... More
