Wonderful Evening

We had a wonderful evening at The French in The Midland Hotel in Manchester .We had the 10 course taster menu . The presentation of each course was excellent. The servers explained all the details of what we were having as they served it. We could not fault the service. We had 2 young ladies who... read more

This is the finest food we have ever eaten. We had the ten course taster menu and wine pairing. The food was amazing and the wines were excellent, a very fine and knowledgeable sommelier. The service was good with a good explanation of each dish. The Ox marinated in Coal Tar was out of this world! A lovely restaurant with... More

I count myself lucky to have eaten in lots of one and two star restaurants and would really like a home town restaurant to be recognised, but it has to be on merit and the French the night we visited it fell way short. There seemed to be a lack of attention to detail in the hosting, service, decor and... More

By chance had dinner on their opening night after refurbishment. Very well redesigned so diners not overlooking all the other diners. No hiccups with excellent pleasant service by well informed staff that knew what they were doing to make a superb dining experience. The food was astonishing with so many different taste combinations. Went for the 10 courser or was... More

So far my best visit in Manchester stunning food bit weird interior and very good service just price bit too high. When they have a star ok I can pay this money but for now just keep it bit lower.

...only giving the French four stars as the place was incredible. We had the 10 course taster menu and wine flight and it was superb. It was my wife's birthday treat and we thoroughly enjoyed it all save for one thing... My wife isn't keen on offal or shellfish. Not a case of allergies or anything (they walk you through... More

Easily the most expensive meal I've ever had but probably the best. The food and service was fantastic and the matching wines were great. Took the best part of three hours to get through it all. It was however very expensive and I can't quite loose the feeling the lunch menu represents better value. However it was our 5th wedding... More

This was my second visit to the French - the first was autumn last year. A great experience and wonderful food the first time - I can report this visit was equally rewarding. As my total experience of fine dining is limited to these two visits to the French this review is perhaps aimed at those who have never splashed... More
