Good beer and decent food

First visit to this traditional pub. The beer, Timothy Taylor's Landlord, was in fine condition. Good choice of other ales and lagers. We had the steak and ale pie, nothing fancy but very tasty with nice tender chunks of lean meat, big fat chips and peas. The menue was was not extensive but had... read more

I was arranging lunchtime drinks for a leaving do and THT was recommended by a friend, especially for the house wine offer. Was served by one of the surliest barmaids ever and when i queried the price was told the offer wasnt on because they had run out of stock. While serving food to other customers the two barmaids continued... More

Chose burgers. Vegetarian option was tasty and my wife's beefburger was homemade and hearty. Fresh salad, slaw and hand cut chips. Great value. Friendly service. Great beer.

I love old pubs with character and this pub has plenty.Didn't eat in here but took time to read the menu which seemed to cover all the usual English pub food choices. The pub is clean, has three separate rooms, the main bar area, a separate room just off this and a room at the back of the pub at the... This is a great pub with all the character of a genuine city centre pub of yesteryear. Well run by Greek George and complimented with a few savoury but now elderley and harmless Manchester faces. Go on a Friday afternoon and Jimmy Jones will sing the Boxer for a pint. Great local beer and great value food by Brian. Where... More

Popped in here after a couple of hours retail therapy as we just wanted a bite to eat and didnt want the usual chain stuff. Had a couple of pints, steak baguette and the cajun chicken breast. Enjoyed everything, portions were large and tasty and excellent value for money. Quite quiet but it was only 1pm on a Sunday afternoon.... More

Stopped in here late one afternoon, unfortunately too late for food: the kitchen closes at 16:00 we think. We had a couple of pints at the bar, it was nice and quiet so had a good conversation with Liam, our bartender, and another of our pub-goers. When we go back to Manchester we'll go out of our way to go... More

We went to this pub yesterday (16/08/14) and i ordered the Cajun chicken breast on ciabatta bread. It came and looked quite nice! Very spicy hence why i didnt notice as the spice took over! Half way through the chicken burger,i realised that all the way through the middle of the chicken was actually raw!! The meal was taken back... More
