Phet Pailin is a true hidden gem, tucked away at the top of some old stone stairs in a lovely old building on George Street in Chinatown, stumbled across by accident. In fact, it turns out it wasn't an accident, it was meant to be found. Delicious authentic Thai food and lovely staff. I'm always recommending Phet Pailin to people... More

Cheapish, informal, friendly Thai restaurant in Chinatown. Nice, authentic, very tasty (and sometimes very spicy) dishes

This little gem of a Thai restaurant, kind of hidden away in China Town in Manchester, is splendid! The food is authentic, and feels homemade. Delicious and really reasonably priced too. The restaurant itself is really cosy, homely, and comfortable. As for the staff, they are awesome, super friendly and always have a smile on their faces.. I'd highly recommend... More

I liked this place - really nice atmosphere, friendly staff, good food, and you can bring your own booze. We ordered the starter platter for two between four of us and it was more than enough - two pork toasts, two fishcakes, four spring rolls, four prawn wontons, two big satay skewers, and two big prawns in filo pastry. I... More

Went for first time last night. Set out to go to Siam Smiles, as recommended in Guardian, but they don't do vegetarian. Starving by then, so went next door. Didn't look that promising, but we had set our hearts on Thai and wanted a change from Koh Samui, so went in. Great atmosphere, great service , amazing soup, excellent veggie.... More

Top quality food and outstanding service rarely go hand in hand but the Phetpailin Thai had it all! The food was well presented and absolutely delicious and the staff were courteous and friendly. I would advise everyone in Manchester to take a trip to George Street - you will not be disappointed!

Went for a meal here for the first time yesterday. The service was excellent and I thought the food was very good value. We ordered the tempura veg for starters - I agree the portion was massive. For mains we ordered a green curry and the tofu in Thai basil. That stirfried tofu in basil was absolutely wonderful What was... More

Visited on 15th Aug 2014 (for our first time here), called to book in the afternoon ( which was an easy process) and got seated straight away when we got there. Service was quick, efficient and friendly. We had the ribs and a MASSIVE portion of tempura veg for starters. Both were very good and well cooked. Mains of tom... More
