disappointing

We were looking forward to this visit as a change from the ubiquitous Cantonese cuisine but were disappointed. The restaurant itself needs some refurbishment, the carpet needed cleaning and was sticky in some areas. The food could have been so much better. The salt and pepper baby squid were well... read more

My food was the last to arrive and was lukewarm. The waitress told me the wrong dish name, so I queried it and was told it was the beancurd I'd ordered. What I thought was chopped nuts turned out to be meat and one of the other staff ran over to tell me I'd been given the non-vegetarian version by... More

This is the best and most authentic Peking food in Manchester. Every dish is beautifully prepared, with crispy textures, salty, sour and chilli coatings providing memorable dishes from starters to main. Highlights include the Beijing Duck, sesame prawn toast, the aromatic crispy prawns in hot and sour sauce and the variety of tangy chicken dishes, including Painter, chicken with peanuts... More

Loved our evening out here. Busy and fresh food. Service was very attentive and prompt. Loved the duck starter which was reserved for us as it tends to get sold out. For main course loved the sticky lamb dish. The fried eel was just ok, could have been stir fried better. Overall loved the food there. Been many years since... More

I ate at this restaurant when it first opened some years ago and the food was very good great decor and atmosphere. Today's visit was shockingly bad in comparison to the Portland Street branch. The food on offer here, whilst technically the same menu, is of inferior quality. Over salted. Over oiled and.Over processed leaving a horrible texture on some... More

The service was a mixed bag. Our main waiter (young chap with short hair and glasses) was attentive and polite and provided excellent service, however the waiter who served our drinks was surly, bordering impolite, and at the end ASKED for a tip (we paid for the meal on card and left a cash tip). The food was hit and... More

Authentic food with surly service and very grubby surroundings. Excellent value 2 course lunch at £9.50 and very convenient if visiting the hospital. The portions are generous and for the adventurous plenty of great choices on the extensive menu. Had to shout or wave for service but the place was heaving which I think speaks to the quality of the... More

Inviting interior, and no problem to eat slightly earlier than booked. Quite a few people in early, and we were offered a choice of 2 tables. But then, the menus......with photos???? Ordered a couple of half glasses of beer, and then settled on the joint sharing platter as starter. This was tasty (if a little 'over' deep fried medley....) We... More
