Riverside Italian with al fresco dining at Stoneclough, near Bolton.Stefano ran La Roma in Bromley Cross for 10 years and has now moved the operation to Stoneclough, near Bolton. It’s in a picturesque spot right next to the River Irwell and outside seating makes the most of the location. Expect classic Italian food prepared fresh to order with signature dishes like their Cartoccio Mushrooms, deep-fried mushrooms stuffed with pate and wrapped in filo pastry. It’s a large menu with lots of pizza and pasta choices and plenty of meat and fish mains with seafood a real speciality here. The wine list is all-Italian. La Roma is a relaxed and intimate venue, convenient for both Bolton and Manchester. It’s open for lunch and dinner, seven days a week. San Marco in Blackrod is a sister venue.

Great Local Restaturant

Great little restaurant, and I feel we're very lucky to have something like this on our doorstep. Visited Saturday night, lovely food, very tasty and the service was spot on as usual, they never seem to scrimp on the staff, so service is prompt, polite and professional. Myself and my partner have been to eat at la Roma many times and we have always found it faultless. However last night, I ordered a pizza ( which was fantastic) but my partner ordered a pasta dish and it just wasn't the same as before. The staff were lovely and there is a great atmosphere in the restaurant!

Fabulous evening. 4 course meal with wines to compliment each course supplied by Luca Taiani of Piccola Cellar Ltd. Excellent food and wonderful service provided by the very hard working staff of La Roma. A fantastic selection of wines chosen by Luca which were perfect. Brilliant value for money at £35 per person. Wine was available to buy, but absolutely... More

Lovely atmosphere! Fillet steak was amazing, lasagne was the best my partner has ever had. And they catered fantastically for the kids. Service was good and staff were friendly, definitely coming back pronto!

I have been to la Roma a few times with both family and friends, for lunch, dinner, casual meals and special occasions and it never fails to impress me! It's an absolute gem, reasonably priced, the food is amazing and the staff are lovely too! The regular menu is yummy but the specials are delicious, I can't recommend the spicy... More

Still my favourite Italian restaurant. The service was as always friendly and attentive. We started with spicy garlic bread and mushrooms in a chilli & tomato sauce, both tasty & spicy. On looking @ the specials board we chose cod in a leek, spring onion & cream sauce & lobster ravioli in a prawn & tomato sauce. Both dishes were... More

Recently ate here with family for an evening meal, more for location rather than the food reputation but did expect it to be better than it was. The service is very quick which is a plus but the food just isn't special, it's over priced for average, table had a fillet steak and a sirloin, seemed to be very cheap... More

This is our fav restaurant and the one we always end up going back to for various reasons. It's in a great location on the River Irwell, it's a really nice venue, the staff are great, it's local and above all the food is always superb. They also do a very good lunch offer..
