Afternoon Tea for fussy eaters!

I visited the Double Tree by Hilton on Mother's Day with my Mum and Sister (sorry, I know this is a late review......but better late than never!). I had rang up prior to our visit to discuss the food that was on their Afternoon Tea menu (due to me being a fussy eater). Alex the manager went through... read more

Called in as a solo traveller and quickly got the impression that the 3 staff on in the very empty cafe could not be bothered with me. Left standing like a spare prune waiting on a table being found. Sat down to browse the menu but just didn't feel the love. A couple at the table next to me were... More

Having been for afternoon tea and meals at City cafe many times I always return , but not after this visit. I stood waiting to give my name for the booking for 5 minutes . 5 staff members stood around and walked past ignoring me in an empty restaurant , that still had evidence of breakfast settings at 2 pm.... Decided to just use the hotel restaurant after a long day. What a surprise, as well as only £9:50 before 7:30 it was excellent. Had the fish cakes and then sea bass. Sea bass was normally £20, though can I say well worth it. Wonderfully cooked and presented. Both first class. Waiter was excellent recommending both courses. Very friendly. Will... More

I say new but its the first time I've used the current one and I was well satisfied with my cod pieces served with tarte sauce followed by tuna salad with a fancy name of course.

I love this place , have been many times for meals and can't fault it . Recently went on a travel zoo offer , 2 courses and a glass of prosecco and what a fab deal it is . The tempura cod with sweet potato chips and lentils was the best fish I have eaten anywhere. The food was exceptional.... More

Visited here for a special occasion. There were 7 of us and the restaurant was almost empty. After being seated for 30 minutes we had to attract the aattention of a member of staff to place our orders. Although the afternoon tea was delicious, we waited 45 minutes before we received anything to eat / drink. we were all shocked... More

Booked a table for 4 for afternoon tea to celebrate my daughters 10th birthday in the City Cafe of the hotel. I'd specifically chosen this restaurant as a special treat as they serve Children's Afternoon tea. The staff appeared to have no knowledge of the booking but seated us to a nearby table anyway. At least 3 groups of people... More

There's little reason to go here unless you're staying at the Doubletree Manchester. Do yourself a favor: put on your coat and go anywhere else. I had gotten a free drink voucher when I checked it, so why not? Well, here's the rub: maybe it was because I had that chit, and all I wanted was a pint of Guinness... More
