I ate at the Doubletree twice over the Bank Holiday weekend, because having Manchester Pride wristbands on, our food was half price. And I'm thankful that it was. On our first visit (Friday 23rdAug) the service was just poor. We waited far too long to be served in a restaurant which really was not that busy. Wanting to give it... More

My partner and I were staying in the hotel so decided to eat here one night, tempted in by the offer of two courses and a glass of wine for £15.95. Wasn't quite sure what to expect as this is also the same room where the hotel breakfast is served in the mornings. We hadn't booked but were seated straight... More

Having booked a table for 2 on open table for the 3 course menu with 1/2 bottle of wine I was looking forward to dining here. Having dined here many times previously when it was City Inn and Mint Hotel the food and service has always been excellent. I arrived at the restaurant and they could not find my booking.... More

After looking at prior reviews I come across a 'hit and miss' attitude, which I believe to be correct. I can't rate the service as it was non existent. I sat down outside on the terrace, I then asked for the drinks menu. I waited over 15 minutes to be served, there was no one inside and only a few... More

Really enjoyed my recent visit to City Cafe at the DoubleTree Hilton Manchester. The champagne afternoon tea was delicious and really good quality. Tasty food in very nice, modern surroundings. Would definitely recommend. The staff were friendly and very attentive. Thanks to all staff for a lovely experience.

I had dinner with my nephew here last week. It was Thursday, early about 6.30. At first I thought the restaurant wasn't open, it was quite dark. We were seated by the window which helped but there were only two other people dining. A large-ish group arrived later but there was no buzz about the place. It's a shame as the... More

I booked afternoon tea at this restaurant for myself and my two teenage daughters and advised them when I was booking that I would also be bringing my 2 year old ( they advertise that they do a special child afternoon tea). We were seated promptly, the restaurant was very quite only one other table dining, about 4 waiting on... More

Fortunately I was in no hurry. I waited obediently at the welcome desk to be seated. Waiters walked by apparently not noticing me - and this was with a sparsely populated restaurant! OK, if I'd been in a hurry or in a less patient mood I'd have sought attention. When seated, I was alerted to the £19.95 menu deal and... More

Accomplished cooking evident here, although ambience not its strong point, nor abundant portions. Staff all were very pleasant indeed. Could do much worse, especially if curries / Chinese etc not on wish list.
