Sweet Mandarin stands out on the Manchester restaurant scene for its vibrant, cosmopolitan atmosphere, modern Chinese menu and killer cocktails. Located in the chic Design House on Copperas Street, the award-winning restaurant is based on a simple philosophy: quick service, delicious pan Asian cooking and value for money. Whether you're in the mood for a memorable meal in the minimalist dining room, or after-work cocktails, celeb-spotting and Chinese tapas in the bar – this is the place for you. Working in a theatrical exhibition kitchen, the high-energy chefs use Mandarin style woks and traditional techniques to prepare classic dishes such as beef with sweet peppers and black bean sauce; Shanghai vegetables with garlic and chilli sauce; and General Tse's sweet and sour chicken

Pat Jupe and I went with our son stephen and his wife Debby for his birthday. It was our second visit but Stephen and Debby go regular. From walking in and a lovely greeting to attentive service. The food was great. First class starters and wonderful main courses for each of us. Debby has a garlic... read more

After hearing so much about this restaurant finally decided to give it a whirl for a friends birthday. As soon a we walked in we were met by a stern looking waitress, we gave our name and we were pointed to a table not taken. That should have been an indication of the night ahead. She then straight away came... More

We were expecting good things after seeing all the f-word stuff and pictures with the PM and we were not disappointed. We had 4 lovely starters which were nibbled to the bone and then beef / black bean sauce and crispy shredded beef for the mains. Both were tasty and there was plenty of it! We will be returning!

The Pad Thai I ordered was so greasy I couldn't finish it. No one came over to ask how our meal was and when they took the plates away and a comment was made about why so much of my food was left over and I mentioned how oily it was, I got a vague smile. My husband had the... More

My girlfriend suggested eating at the restraunt as she had seen it on 'the F word' and heard good things about the place. Unfortunately the service was very poor to the point we wondered if the waiter and waitress was being intentionally rude to us. Firstly we had to wait for 30 minutes before anyone took our food order as... More

I loved the hotpot (plenty of vegetables!), and the chilli squid starter was delicious. Great clean flavours, no goop in sight. Recommended.

Food was great, really enjoyed the salt and pepper squid starter and pad Thai noodles and all my colleagues really enjoyed theirs too. One colleague asked for a gluten free menu and there was a wide range of available options. Good location and a fab evening.
