Basic but pleasant Italian restaurant

Visited Caminetto whilst staying in the area. Entered thinking they looked fully booked only to be told there was a lot more seating downstairs. Only a handful of people there. Have to say, the food ordered was excellent and can have no complaints whatsoever. Staff friendly, and also had the chef... read more

Had a very nice kidney in a rich sauce . My favorite kind of Italian restaurant, one where thechef ssometimes delivers the food and always talks to customers. Don't be in a hurry since everything is made after you order.

We were a party of 4 celebrating a 60th birthday, we had booked and confirmed at The Noel Hotel but on our arrival our table had been given to another group so we left in disgust (see review). I am a believer that thing's happen for a reason and our disappointment was soon rescued by the staff at The Caminetto.... More

10 of us ate here and we were the only table in. The atmosphere was nil and the food was very average. I don't think things can have changed here for a very long time - including the menu. We often visit Chipping Campden (See my other reviews) but won't be returning here sadly.

We were in Chipping Campden one lunch time, and spotted this restaurant just as they were about to close. Friendly waitress said no problem, and we were delighted with our food. I had spaghetti carbonara, a simple enough dish but absolutely beautiful and my husband had pork escallopes which he also thoroughly enjoyed; he asked her why Italian food in... More

For our honeymoon, my wife and I stayed in Sydney, in the Rocks area and had a wonderful time... apart from our dinner at Caminetto Italian that now leaves a sour note on our entire time here. NO AMERICAN SHOULD EAT HERE! We were attracted to the outdoor setting, the live music, and the smell of some delicious Italian food.... More

We visited the restaurant for the numerous time to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Never disappointed. OK, so the decor etc is a bit 'back to the future' but who cares - it's comfortable and you are made really welcome. Good company, good service and a really lovely meal set in a quiet, quaint atmosphere where you can actually hear yourself... More

Just had 3 days in the cotswold town of Chipping Camden.at the Noel Arms Hotel.(see revue) We fancied an Italian meal so went about 50 yards down the high St. From the hotel to this little restaurant .quite small. But very cosy and friendly. Had a lovely meal , it was quiet at first but soon filled up with locals.... More

Dated place, menu from the 70's, processed tasting food and sauces, the soup was worse than a cup-a-soup ... i have not had such a disappointing meal since my university days. Food covered in suspicious sauces, vegetables boiled to death and greasy food did not deserve the 35 pounds per head that we paid. Yes, the staff were charming, but... More

I've been going to caminetto since it first opened over 30 yrs ago. There have been big changes with Mario and Vivienne retiring and unfortunately Danny struggled to find a decent chef. So he's solved that problem by cooking himself, and it's back to its best. The food was amazing, matching the always fantastic service. And the best bit, Danny... More
