good value

unassuming Indian restaurant at the back of a traditional Cotswolds pub. If you appreciate good value, tasty Indian cuisine served with no frills, the Maharaja provides an alternative to the more traditional Cotswold fare on offer in Chipping Campden.

Every time I visit Chipping Campden, I make sure to stop here. The food is seriously delicious, so full of flavour and very well priced. If you're in the area, don't miss it!

Went here with friends, and food was ok. There were just a few things lacking, dirty side plate and glass on our table, and slow service. It wasn't offensive at all, but it wasn't outstanding, I'd go if invited again but wouldn't hurry back on my own.

Super service. Food was delicious. Shame they wouldn't deliver to Mickleton a couple of miles away. Nice to see some unusual specialty dishes rather than the standard menus

We hadn't seen these two friends during the summer so arranged to meet at The Volunteer Inn in Chipping Campden where this restaurant is situated. As always they were nicely busy and we were shown to our table - the service was very efficient and friendly - drinks were served and poppadoms and relishes. They serve Sharps Doombar - which... My husband and his friend visited this restaurant late evening, having not eaten anything that day since a muesli breakfast at 5.30 AM. They ordered the same curry meal but different rice. About 2 hrs later he became violently sick for the following 24 hrs. On his return he called the maharaja to advise of this but was greeted with... More

Enjoyed a fabulous meal here. Well presented and flavoursome. We had the tandoori mixed grill...... Yummy! And the tikka tawa sizzler.... Yummy again. Generous portions. Excellent service.

Given its location at the rear of a drinkers' pub - and the fact that it's the only Indian in town - the Maharaja is far better than you'd expect. We had a very tasty pathia and a vindaloo the way they should be - hot! Yes, the decor could do with more of an Indian influence, but what matters... More

We went there on a Tuesday night for the banquet. It was busy but we got a table for two without booking. The service was very good and we were impressed with the presentation on the starters. The two curries we took for mains were very tasty but WAY too sweet and not very spicy. It's a real shame because... More
