Have eaten here a few times and have always been pleased, there is a varied menu plus daily specials. The food is well presented and tasty, the chips are to die for. If you haven't been for a while give it a try, it's the best pub food in the area and very reasonable on the wallet.

We called in here after mooring our boat at Thorne visitor moorings (where the facilities are) The tavern is about 100 yards away turning right out of the moorings gate. We found the staff to be all very attentive and helpful. We had a party of four and al had different meals. One of our party is vegetarian and whilst... More

We went there with a group of friends for someone's birthday on a Friday night. Our intention was to have something to eat and then go around a few pubs in the area - That never materialised as from arriving at 7.30pm, having had a starter and a main course, we didn't get to pay the bill until approx 10.45pm!!... Needed food while preparing a boat for road move in the area. Locals recommended it and wow! ... was it a good choice! Great food and menu at reasonable prices, the best Rump steak I've had in years and that's saying something as I'm a worldwide traveller used to 4/5 star hotels. Used it on two separate visits and was... More

Didn't have much time, so ordered a wrap. It was good, obviously freshly made with care - rather than a bought in filling that you would find in a chain pub. Front of house staff were friendly and helpful, kitchen slower than expected considering it was quiet. Very clean. Prices looked slightly high, but seemed worth it from limited experience... More

We recently had our wedding reception at The Canal Tavern in Thorne. The staff were fantastic and the food was exceptional. Everyone who attended had nothing but praise. The resident Dj was amazing and catered for all tastes in music. We would highly recommend to anyone the Canal Tavern for a venue or just to go for a meal. From... More

Visited the Canal tavern today for lunch and can only say that we were very dissapointed. Of two hand pulled beers on offer one was off so a grand choice of one. Ordered our meals and then waited, and waited, and waited. Half an hour later the waitress said it wouldn't be long now. It can't have been due to... More

It's fair to say that the canal tavern is my most favourite public house in Thorne in a prime location situated on the side of the canal the tavern is a lovely little gem. After recent flooding the Tavern has under gone a major refit. The function room is light and airy with the capacity to hold over 200 plus... More
