Good for lunch!

Often stop off here for a quick drink and some food. Can be quite slow to get served at the bar sometimes but their school dinners menu makes for a yummy afternoon treat! Tried breakfast the other week and that was great too.

Have stayed here on several occasions and it's always been great; we're staying again In July. Rooms and ensuites are fab and the staff more than helpful. Tea making facilities in the room are excellent. Restaurant and bar area have a good buzz. All in all a great place to stay and highly recommend it.

First impressions were that this is just a real ale pub, but the restaurant to the back was a real treat. Had the rump steak, it was beautiful. The offer (assume it is a regular Sunday night feature) of buy two mains and get a free bottle of wine was a real bonus. There is also a beer garden and... More

I booked a table for nine on a Sunday which was a lovely table near the garden. Most had fish and chips or Lancashire hotpot, all happy, but the menu is varied. A few of us had a starter (soft shell crab on specials board was ok but not great). Food was good pub grub, not 'gastro' but perfectly good... More

We went on a week day for our Wedding anniversary meal and it was beautiful. The service was excellent and we got a free bottle of wine as we ordered 2 courses. The food was truly delicious, lovely day.

The food here is of a very high standard. The atmosphere is also very welcoming. Reasonalbly priced menu with friendly staff. The service was a little slow but that was understandable considering how packed out the place was. We will be visiting again!

My husband, daughter and i found ourselves here as part of a ticket deal with The Dukes theatre and were pleasantly surprised. Lovely historic place, full of atmosphere right on Dalton Square. Contrary to another reviewer the School Dinners menu portions were more than adequate and the puddings were huge! The staff could've been a little more attentive but that... More

The atmosphere is classy and very English. The food is brilliant and not too expensive. The variety of drinks offered is impressive, although it comes at a price. I would definitely recommend a vist for a pint with friends or family.

i know it was Good Friday but, the service, food and staff were dreadful. Over priced bad food...how can you get a steak and burger so wrong and it took an hour from order to table, 4 bog standard meals and a round of drinks 100 quid....awful.
