Well cooked food served in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. There are also different offers available, we received a free bottle of wine. Much appreciated, thanks.

Really good pub and the range in their own beers was excellent. Loved sitting on the chesterfield sofas and watching the world go by. Food menu looked excellent and the atmosphere of the bar was lovely and chilled. Will definitely be visiting again

Was in Lancaster on an intensive training course, so at the day just wanted wine, decent food, a relaxing environment and a place that could take around 8 of us. The Borough offered all of that. Friendly, accommodating staff. Large tables. Good menu. Reasonable prices. Relaxing and cheery atmosphere. My only problem were the chips. I ate mine and my... More

Really good range of beer, both draft and cask. Bar people are very smart in old fashioned pinnies. The food we had was good, the burger was well presented though not massive. The shrimps were similarly prepared. Most people come here for the atmosphere not the high cuisine, but it works.

I don't normally review restaurants but having visited The Borough for a meal with my parents and partner last night I simply had to post something up here to compliment them on an absolutely superb vegetable lasagne. I'm always hesitant to go for lasagnes when eating out becacause they can be made so well, so easily, at home. The Borough's... More

I went with a friend on Tuesday lunchtime and decided to have a meal from the School Dinners menu. Although it was not busy the service was poor. I chose the kedgeree which supposedly has a curried rice base. I have made this myself so knew what to expect but what a disappointment! Apart from the fact that the rice... More

I went in a busy Friday night with a group of 3 others. Booked online so had the added offer of a free glass of fizz which was nice. The food itself was really nice. My only slight problem was that I felt there was a lack of choice in the menu to choose from. I ended up having the... More

This is really popular with local people and is the main popular eating place for miles around. No formal dining, but great for friendly every-day dining. It has good beers, including guest beers, and there is a wide choice of food, wider than a normal pub selection. They have a cheap 2 or 3 course menu, and an a la... More

A perfect place to either eat or drink. Great menu, super food, accepts dogs in the bar area. Lively but not obtrusive atmosphere.

I eat here from time to time being a resident of Lancaster. The food is always good or better without being too fancy but then it does not purport to be fancy. In general it tends toward the heartier side of eating but nothing wrong with that in my book. The service, on a pretty busy Friday night, was very... More
