Something fishy......!

the Borough is one of those places where everybody says is fantastic, but sometimes you just don't want to find it all that. It's like one of those 6 foot , leggy runway models, that you just want to see fall on those impossibly high stilleto's. True, the decor is lovely, the seats are... read more

I visited The Borough with a friend last week for lunch. Although the place was almost full our order was taken quickly and the food didn't take too long to arrive. We went for the meals from their 'School Dinners' menu. A very strange name for the meals, but good value and tasty none the less. I went for the... More

Probably only second to Bella Italia in poor Lancaster experiences. We had a table booked for 8pm on Saturday in mid May. We arrived at 7.55pm to be told that the table "wasn't quite ready". We waited squeezed uncomfortably in a little dank alley way near the bar for 45 minutes. 6 of us. Completely fed up by now as... More

I went on a steak night - Wednesday. Just means it was slightly cheaper and more variety of steaks than on any other night. Excellent quality of all ingredients. Very tasty.

Visited for Evening Drinks and DInner during a business trip to Lancaster in May 2015. They have an excellent range of local real ale (some brewed in-house) which was perfect for drinking whilst waiting for our pre-booked table to come available. Staff were friendly and pleasant offering excellent customer service which was great to experience. The menu was familiar of... More

We went to the borough for lunch. The interior is full of character and period features. They serve a great selection of drinks, including imported German beers. We sat in the dining area at the back of the building, the food menu was very extensive and the food was good quality. We really enjoyed our visit and will be going... More

Been here a few times for drinks and for meals. For this visit I came with some friends for the comedy night and we paid the extra for the school dinner meal deal. Food was good and so was the comedy night. Really good value for money. Only thing is that drinks, both alcohol and soft drinks are a bit... More

The Borough is a pub that I enjoy drinking at. Only an occasional drinker, I find this a cosy place to drink, although some spots are cosier than others. I haven't eaten here often because on a couple of occasions that I have done it has not lived up to the billing that some people give it. My most recent... More

I like the honesty of The Borough, they don't try and be anything they are not, the food and service is good, nice wine list and they brew their own beer.

On Sunday we both really enjoyed the classic 'School Dinners' menu of burgers and steak washed down with a few glasses of smooth tasting 'Borough' microbrewery Pale and Dark ale in the restaurant behind the bar. By 7:45pm we were seated upstairs at the Comedy Club to enjoy a local MC introduce in his inimitable style comics from London, Canada... More
