8oz Rump with all the trimmings cooked with style and cost only £10 Because we booked on line we were given a free glass of fizz. Plenty of choice of beer and wine the bar has its own microbrewery The only minor issue- it's a popular venue and we'll deserved. A must if you are staying in Lancaster.

Always busy and good atmosphere - food good and nice to have a walled garden to sit in when the weather is good

A lovely room with a range of teas and biscuits on arrival. The ensuite was gorgeous and down a few stairs from the bedroom. The bed was massive with comfy sheets and duvet. We got free comedy tickets because we stayed on a Sunday night. Breakfast the next morning was delicious with a wide range of cooked and continental options.... More

We went to university in Lancaster so know the area well. We regularly return and have stayed in several of the local hotels. This is by far the best. Upon arrival we received a complimentary arrival drink and a warm welcome. (This included a pint of their own pale ale from their own micro brewery) The room was a good... More

We visited The Borough on August12th, whilst ordering drinks we asked if we dcould eat in restaurant the answer was yes in 30 minutes. We waited in their near gentleman's club comfortable lounge all leather seats & a good atmosphere. We were shown to out table by a delightful maître d , on reading menu discovered that if you ordered... More

Went for a quick bite to eat here before going to the theatre. Its quite a nice place with modern decor and was quite busy. There were quite few tables reserved, so I guess it must be fairly popular. Service was very quick. I had a lamb hotpot, that was fairly OK, if a little small. My wife had fish... More

Visited last night at 4.30pm had booked but wasn't necessary as almost empty. I think there was a staff change going on as it was haphazard and when trying to get attention of staff was acknowledged but then left as they went to others. The food was adequate but nothing exceptional possibly due to staff changeover therefore I found the... More

I have been here a couple of times with my girlfriend and I can't particularly make my mind up whether I like it or not (which you would have to assume is a bad thing and the reason for the 3* review). Firstly it is a pub that much is clear. The menu consists of mainly pub dishes but with... More

We visited on one of the Lancaster Uni graduation evenings & the pub was very busy. Drinks service was a bit slow (or maybe I was too thirsty...) but for good reason considering the place was bunged. Food service was fine, with very helpful & pleasant staff. Our food was good with generous portions. No problem going back if we... More
