Birthday treat

Gastro pub set in lovely countryside. Lovely birthday treat. Baked cod superb, melt in the mouth. Succulent rump steak with a great choice of desserts also. great choice of wines and nice staff. A bit pricey however, nice for a special occasion.

Although the main courses were good the starters at £10 each - 6 pieces of small scampi and 6 of calamari buffered by a load of salad to make the plate look bigger for £20 was in all honesty a bit of a rip off! I pointed out to one of the waitresses that the roasted garlic bulb was that... More

My freind and I really enjoyed two really tasty starters with a very enjoyable glass of white wine. I had the Coquilles St Jacques and my friend had mackaral with noodles. Both were very tasty. To finish I had the mini apple crumble - which I have to say was very mini but nevertheless very enjoyable.

We ate in the garden and apart from the wasps and the slow service we enjoyed a very relaxed and delicious lunch with friends.

The service was fantastic, everyone was so helpful and accommodating and the food was amazing. We had a party of 50 people, yet the food was still cooked to perfection and the service didn't falter in the slightest, would and will recommend to everyone!

We were lucky enough to book a meal here as a night off from working locally, for eight of us. The evening was fantastic - great surroundings, marvelous food, great service, all made an evening we all thoroughly enjoyed. (My venison, marinated in cocoa, was truly inspirational and I'll be trying that at home oft sure). I would certainly recommend... More

So let's firstly lay some ground rules on expectations. When you visit a restaurant away from a city centre that is reviewed generally as "fine dining" you expect certain criteria such as the best service and the finest food, superb atmosphere, comfortable but not over bearing surroundings etc. I had yet to experience all of these on any occasion, and... For me eating out is a treat and this menu looked great. I met some friends here and the welcome was excellent and the staff couldn't be more helpful. However, I can't help thinking that the food is over priced and very ordinary...maven boring. The salad starter looked lovely but lacked dressing and wasn't cheap. The mains were very disappointing.... More

Our first visit tonight, first impression, looked great, however first point of contact was a blonde haired woman wearing white top, black trousers, very cold attitude, we got the feeling she wanted us in and out ASAP. Main meal was small, but good, however desert was small and overpriced. We think the first impression of we presume was the manageress... More
