Amazing old pub, beautifully run

This was one of the first pubs we visited when we first moved to Tewkesbury, and thanks to Rod and Vee, it will always be a favourite. Much is made of the value that (Wethersomething) provides, but this place matches it pint for pint and bite for bite. Wish we hadn't moved a little further away... read more

This is our nearest pub, but as a young couple who enjoy real ale, good food and a nice atmosphere, we would rather walk to any other pub in Tewkesbury. This should be the best in the area, with it's historic character & riverside location. Sadly there is nothing positive I can say about it. Bad beer, awful food, and... More

Place is a dive it stinks of poop and not just in the toilets. Without a refurb very soon, especially the toilets, the place will die. The sooner V And Rod are back in control and allowed to do there job the better.

I would Definitely give this pace a miss. We went for a bar meal with our 5 year old. After ordering starters and main courses, when we had waited an hour and had asked the only bar man when it might arrive a few times, we decided enough was enough. Anyone who has a 5 year old knows that waiting... More

We visited this lovely pub on a Tuesday night so it was quiet, it boasts to be the oldest pub in Gloucestershire - the interior is beautiful and certainly looks 26th century.. Well worth a visit if you are in the area ...

We went in here just for a drink as it is supposed to be Gloucester's oldest pub according to it's sign. It was unclean, lacking in atmosphere and we couldn't wait to get out. Such a shame as it looks so lovely from the outside

The building dates back to 1309 and is near a river. Ye Olde Black Bear has the distinction of being the oldest inn in Gloucestershire. Our party of 10 sat in the back room and ordered a variety of food. Everyone was happy.

This place used to be the place to be, but its old and dated and wants a complete refurb, and often has rowdy football which you can hear in every room!-they need to take some advice from the guys at Theocs house ( just down town) It would be shame to see it go, but It has little to offer,... We popped in Friday night for dinner, after Wetherspoons was packed, we should of waited for table at Spoons!!!! Ordered our food, whilst another couple got up and walked out, wait was too long and had theatre booked. We were not in a rush so decided to stay, bad mistake, starters arrived, prawn cocktail, had seen better days, prawns dry... More
