Great food

Had a lovely meal here, the amuse bouche was delicious, mushroom soup topped with pesto, the homemade bread was superb, a fruity nutty loaf that was so light and tasty. Goose liver starter was very good, the prawn cocktail looked great as did the Brie. We had the chateaubriand which was perfectly... read more

The restaurant looked very inviting as we passed by so we booked a table for a group of friend for dinner, we had the most fabulous meal at the great grandfather, my starter was to die for, pawn cocktail sprinkled over crispy lettuce and season with black pepper. Mixed with mayonnaise, tomatoes and mariy rose sauce. The chief kindly told... More

I came into the restaurant to have a quiet meal and a relaxing evening. The service I received was beyond amazing, I couldn't have asked to be served by nicer people or be given better food! To start with I had the prawn cocktail which was elegantly be severed and was just a deliciously starter. After that I had the... More

Very disappointing! Booked this restaurant online and stated it was our 10 year wedding anniversary. We were the only customers for the whole evening and no acknowledgement was made throughout of our special occasion. It was freezing in the restaurant, the waitress did put an additional heater by us however this made not a bit a difference. I sat throughout the... More

Dear Madam Thank you for your feedback about our restaurant. My wife and I remember you well You arrived at our restaurant with your partner to celebrate your anniversary on a very cold winter night and we are sorry that we did not wish you a happy anniversary. My wife made every effort to make sure that you were warm... More

Despite us walking in late on a Monday evening and being the last table in the premises for the majority of our stay we were treated excellently. Food was of a very good standard and certainly outshone anything else we saw on offer in the area, and as said service was excellent. Definitely a place I will return to if... More

Visited here for a meal for 2.... The food was nice but not fantastic.....I opted for the Brie starter which was lovely but my main "Cheese Soufflé" was a disappointment, tasted more like scrambled egg.... To dry and not a soufflé at all. The service was average and for a while no one was around to take drink orders, despite... More

Very attentive and knowledgeable staff, superb food, interesting menu, extra touches that added to the occasion, good wine selection. Wouldn't hesitate to go again for the right occasion as quite understandably expensive.

An excellent family-run restaurant. Fantastic friendly service and really good food. Our party had prawn cocktail, deep fried Brie, goose liver for starters which were all top notch. Our mains were halibut with scallops, fillet steak and pork with min toffee apples. All excellent. We had complimentary home made bread which was beautiful and wrapped up for us to take... More

I visited a week ago with friends and the food was so good! The vegetarian food was better than some other restaurants who specialise is vegetarian diets. I had the Twice Baked Creamed Cheese Soufflé & Baked Figs and it was out of this world. The staff provided excellent 5 star service and were very friendly. The atmosphere was warm... More
