Good hearty Italian grub

Great authentic Italian food. Been here a few times and never had a bad experience. Portion sizes are massive!!! The only negative is that there are slightly too many tables and chairs and it can get noisy in there .. Would be nice if you had a little bit more room. Apart from that 10/10 !

We went here for a hen party. ! As apparently this was the place to go,we travelled from windsor just to come here!! So disappointed for the hen,we arrived and we had to wait 20 minutes for us to ask if we can have a drink, then that was as if we were bothering them They then came over another 10... More

Married to a Sicilian and this is one of the few Italian restaurants she rates. Good hearty grub, great atmosphere and lovely staff - a few that have been there for years and know us. It's not to everyone's taste as it's busy and noisy but for us that's part of its charm. Pizza's and Saltimbocca are my favs. My... More

The food was good, maybe portions are a tad bit to big but not disappointing. The staff were very welcoming however there was a lot of them and they all seemed to be running from point to point, the restaurant wasn't particularly busy either. The tables are very close together which made dining a tad uncomfortable. Everything just seemed mismatched.

We have eaten here about once a month for the last five years. If you like the slightly generic, cookie-cutter, hyper-attentive service experience of the main Italian chains, this probably isn't for you. BUT if you want a place with a bit of personality and liveliness, this is my top recommendation for Watford. You can sit and watch the world... More

I have been at the "L'artista" for three times. The first time, we had dinner very late and wait almost 1 hour. It was ok because we didn't booked... The second time, we went there and we received a "sorry we don't have tables you will need to wait more than 30 minutes"... the third time we went there to... More

Took the family (four of us) there after a recommendation. The food itself was ok, but the starters and mains both turned up at different times. And all our main courses were pizzas - they couldn't cook four pizzas together? The restaurant is quite echoey and therefore gets very noisy, and tables are very close together. Always a shame when... More

I have been using l'Artista for years so why review it now? I guess because there was a lapse of probably some years between visits but when I returned last year and again more recently, it had barely changed. That in itself is quite an accomplishment. The basics: it is great value for money - huge piles of pasta are... More
