Description: With a combination of delicious food, great wines and a real ambience, Café Rouge has embodied the style and je ne sais quoi of French dining since it opened way back in 1989. Café Rouge Maidstone is just the place to mull over the morning papers with a cafe au lait and a croissant, pop in for a spot of lunch, share a post-work drink or relax over an evening meal. The menu covers a range of French classics from croques and baguettes, ideal for a quick and easy snack, to more substantial fare such as steak frites and boeuf bourguignon. Likewise, the wines are predominately French; many made by lesser known producers, and provide the perfect accompaniment to the food on offer. If it's been a while since you've paid a visit, the team think you'll be surprised by how much you've missed them. No hassle, no rush, no skinny-decaf-double-shot-to-go, just a vibrant atmosphere that moves with your moods throughout the day.

Although they are a chain Café Rouge have some interesting venues. I speak as I find, and I went to the Maidstone version on Thursday night. It was busy, but the staff were attentive and the foo was too the standard one would expect .I enjoyed my meal as did my friends, however this is not a cheap place to... More

Food was disappointingly poor. Service was okay. For a real bistro experience head to Frederics across the road

After a little early Christmas shopping we took an early lunch at Cafe Rouge. The surroundings and ambience were just right with our first "festive" experience and after being shown to our table by the window we ordered a well earned beer accompanied by a delicious chicken baguette with hot skinny fries. All in all a perfect lunchtime treat.

We had breakfast here twice in September. The first time was great. The second time was awful. The quality was awful. I wrote a letter of complaint, but didn't get a very positive response.

Make no mistake, with Café Rouge you eat in a restaurant chain masquerading as a typical French bistro -they can be found in almost every town in the UK . We had some French visitors over to see us recently and on the last night of their visit they kindly offered to take us out to dinner. Not wishing to... More

Decided to eat here before watching Mark Steele in the Hazlitt Theatre. Had downloaded 25% off voucher. Just as well because quality of food does not match full price. My confit duck was ok but my dining companion's boeuf bourgignan had very little beef and was just a lump of mediocre mash swimming in a bowl of gravy, a few... More

Went to this Restaurant earlier this year, and was not that impressed overall, but returned again today, and was much more impressed, with the food, which should be of a consistent quality, but also, with the excellent service, we got being served by Kasia, who should be complimented, on her people service skills. The food this time was spot on,... More

My husband and I had a great Saturday evening meal at the Cafe Rouge with two friends who were visiting from Yorkshire. We go to Cafe Rouge quite often, but as our friends did not know the chain of restaurants, we changed our minds from an Indian meal out to Cafe Rouge. We made a late booking, all was well,... More
