Description: With a combination of delicious food, great wines and a real ambience...
With a combination of delicious food, great wines and a real ambience, Café Rouge has embodied the style and je ne sais quoi of French dining since it opened way back in 1989. Café Rouge Maidstone is just the place to mull over the morning papers with a cafe au lait and a croissant, pop in for a spot of lunch, share a post-work drink or relax over an evening meal. The menu covers a range of French classics from croques and baguettes, ideal for a quick and easy snack, to more substantial fare such as steak frites and boeuf bourguignon. Likewise, the wines are predominately French; many made by lesser known producers, and provide the perfect accompaniment to the food on offer. If it's been a while since you've paid a visit, the team think you'll be surprised by how much you've missed them. No hassle, no rush, no skinny-decaf-double-shot-to-go, just a vibrant atmosphere that moves with your moods throughout the day.

Good for all the family

It was the first time we had eaten at Café Rouge but visited here recently following a family bowling trip. We had a very good meal with good choice on the menu. Service was a little slow but they more than made up for this by making a special effort for one of the children's birthdays with... read more

I love Italian, Chinese, Thai and Mexican food but sometimes i need to have the cafe rouge difference. I went to the one in Maidstone with my wife and 6 yr old and there was a new menu. I had the wild boar to start then was torn between two dishes Poulet Breton was recommended by my waitress so i... More

We made the best of an impromptu lunch without children. Great value lunch menu with good range of dishes without then having too much choice. Smoked salmon omelette with frites was delicious, but bit of salad on side would have made it perfect. Friendly professional service, attentive without loitering. Glad we chose to pop in here rather than being tempted... More

We go here a lot because it's always been consistently good food and wine at a fair price. The prawns are so delicious and my fussy boyfriend gets the fillet steak and has always been happy with it. Staff seen friendly though last time the smoke alarm was constantly going off

We popped into town and plumped for this venue for lunch. We chose the Rapide Menu - not sure what's Rapide about it as it was quite a wait but not a problem as we weren't in a rush. The chicken escalope was lovely but the croque Monsieur was soggy - it needed to be toasted more the under side... More

We ate here on Saturday night and my only conclusion is that I was underwhelmed by the experience. It is a shame as I used to go to Café Rouge (albeit in a different location) quite regularly and was always really impressed with the food. The menu is much smaller than it used to be and the prices are significantly... More

This is the 2nd recent visit where we have come away disappointed. Normally Cafe Rouge Maidstone is a good place to eat out, good menu and trusted quality. However, when struggling to get attention for service, not checking whether your happy, having to send food back and just the general feeling of being neglected does not make this restaurant as... I do like the atmosphere in this cafe rouge whether indoors for dinner or outside in the summer. The food is always great, drinks menu is good and service is great.

I have eaten here a couple of times before with my wife and we had great meals, unfortunately this visit proved to be disappointing at best. It didn't start to well, my wife starters of deep fried camembert had very little taste although my prawns were good, we also ordered a bread which the waitress decided to take away even... More
