walked down the road to here after a table booking. Exquisite starter platters and main course dishes that were cooked to perfection. Really enjoyed the meal, the ales, the wine and the experience. Thoroughly recommended

Visited here this evening and we had high hopes from the statements on the website. Waiting in the bar for our table to be ready, after half an hour we made our own way through to our table. We asked the waitress what the spring greens consisted of and she didn't have a clue as she was new so went... More

An early 17c thatched pub nicely decorated ,set in a spacious garden, what's not to like? That is really the point. Easter Sunday lunch, short appropriate menu, should be a doddle. But 45 mins wait for starters, a sharing fish platter for 2 with one small measly roll, no bread offered to the other 10 guests. Service friendly competent, ok food... More

we have not eaten here for a few years , but heard it was under new ownership so we thought we'd give it a try again. We were glad we did as we had a fantastic lunch. the lunch menu was small , but varied - we all tried different main dishes after sharing a starter of a meat platter and... More

The Crooked Billet is located in the village of Newton Longville and is a traditional old pub that serves food. We arrived late afternoon so the only food available was from the Bar menu. Choice was limited and as it happens all four of us chose Cheeseburgers. Burgers were meaty, well cooked and served in delicious brioche buns but star... More

We have dined at this pub several times before it changed hands last year but it is not the same. Only 10 people in the bar area at 1pm on a sunny Easter Monday(no one in the nice garden area) tells you a lot. We only wanted a drink and a sandwich but were told it would be a 45... More

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, the reason you were told of the wait time was due to the group bookings in the restaurant we were trying to ensure we looked after them first and foremost, the other couple that came in at the same time ordered food and got it in good time, we would... The selection of food was brilliant and just what we wanted after a day walking. The meat sharing platter was divine and followed by a beautiful cod that was seasoned perfectly. I did say I wasn't having desert but the choice made me cave in to temptation. A faultless meal with great service and lovely setting

Been going to the Billet for a number of years and it has always been good but tonight was really excellent in every respect - good service, food to die for and an excellent Wine from Uruguay. Really pleased to see that the new management are doing great things for this fine establishment.
