Food came out with 3 minutes of ordering - its nice to know your meal takes time and is prepared for you rather than multiple dishes sat waiting to go out. Given wet plates which we had to dry ourselves. Beef had to be returned...as it was completely raw. Food was luke warm. Restaurant seemed under staffed with dirty plates on tables when you enter Wouldnt return very disappointed with this visit.More

Fantastic meal….great staff, who don’t hover …. I had a seafood carbonara, so tasty, big portion I couldn’t finish it all…. If your looking for good value, good service and tasty food that’s cooked not microwaved, you can’t go wrong…. Plus seeing a sharing platter...for two going to another table, it would easily feed four.More

Absolutely fantastic. Great ambience, great food and great service. The sister restaurants, The Plough and The Dolphin are equally good. The owners have nailed it! Thankyou!

My wife and I with two friends came for Sunday lunch on their recommendation and what a recommendation. We both had the Sunday lunch sharing platter. A generous portion, everything very well seasoned. The Yorkshire Pudding, Beef, Carrots, cauliflower cheese, crackling and Gravy were the...stars of the show. If I was being picky I would say the lamb was not the best cut of meat and the roast potatoes not crispy enough but that really distracts from the lovely ambience, good food and good service. Also enjoyed a really nice bottle of Italian wine and a sticky toffee pudding dessert.More

Nice, comfortable restaurant with well spaced seating. Food was good quality. Service was good but nothing special. Adding of abd automatic service charge in a venue like this is frustrating.

Lovely place. I came for a quick meal with friends and had a couple of drinks after. Not sure if it’s normal but I felt it was quite bad that the rear door to the car park with a clear no smoking sign and you...had 2 staff members smoking right by the sign and looking quite intimate towards each other which doesn’t look that professional for a business. Plus having to walk past smoke which isn’t that nice. Possibly asking your staff to use another area that’s not right by a door would be better.More

I have always raved how good this restaurant is but my last visit was very, very disappointing. I always have the chateaubriand - delicious and value for money. the waiter plating it on the table is an added touch but that isn’t so now. they’ve...increased their prices and reduced the quantity. I was still hungry afterwards. My son ordered the beef wellington and that too was underwhelming. So many gastro pubs to try now so not going back to this place againMore

Lovely find for a dinner with family & friends. Smooth and welcoming service. Plenty options for those who are vegetarian or have dietary requirements. Members of the family thoroughly enjoyed the beef Wellington, while I had the Miso Aubergine. Wealthy portions! Would definitely recommend, and...most definitely will be back.More

I agree with the other replies. The oldest part of the pub is the front part of the bar it has steps down into it, but only one or two.
