A pleasant village canal side pub in the middle of the urban sprawl of Milton Keynes

Tucked away in the small village of Simpson near Bletchley this is a nice pub to visit and sit in the pleasant gardens on a summer evening. They do food although i have not had the time to sample, but it is on my list to try in the near future.

This pub has a great location, with a beer garden that backs onto the canal. The Italian food here is tasty. There are just a few key things that let's this place down which is such a shame. The Italian food is good, but I don't understand why you have a British pub in the countryside, to have fairly everyday... More

Ate here on a Tuesday evening. We were the only customers in the Trattoria, so not a great deal of atmosphere. Food was excellent, the bruschetta starter made with fresh tomatoes and basil, the fish stew was very tasty, and a liver and bacon dish was very flavourful, with saffron mash and mixed vegetables. The great first two courses were... More

We had a family meal here which was good although there was a suspicion of a microwave as some of my mussels in a delicious fish stew were cold and the pate in my husband's steak Rossini was cold - however my husband didn't want to complain and the other 2 family members really enjoyed their food. What was strange... More

Went here to celebrate a birthday. Really nice food, a proper menu (so not the "pub-food-out-of-a-microwave" type ) . Clearly they have a good chef ! Good beer. Make sure you leave enough time - they closed kitchen before we could order dessert !

We had a lovely family meal before we went to the cinema. We will come back for a more leisurely meal. The service was excellent and the food very tasty. Unfortunately like many places with wooden flooring it was noisy.

Go in here as much as possible - wine is great, ales are always a good choice and the food is fabulous. Love this pub and as it's right on the canal it's super in the summer. The staff are brilliant as well - what more can I say !!

Recently we visited some friends who live in Milton Keynes. They suggested a Sunday lunch at the Plough, and we were a little reserved, as Pub food in Britain is plasticy and Microwaved, we didn't want another desecrated meal. To our surprise and enjoyment the meal was lovely, the lamb cooked to perfection and the vegetables sublime. Even the pudding... More
