Description: Taipan is a Chinese restaurant based in the heart of Milton Keynes...
Taipan is a Chinese restaurant based in the heart of Milton Keynes' Theatre district. Our food combines high quality and fresh ingredients to create a very modern take on traditional Chinese dishes. And because we are independent, we can craft new dishes and create bespoke meals to cater for individual tastes. Our chefs have worked in some of the most high profile restaurants in East Asia including the 5 star Shanghai Hilton and the Hong Kong Jockey Club (Formally the Royal Jockey Club). Because of their experience, we are able to offer a wide selection of dishes of the highest quality dishes, with Seafood and Dim Sum being some of our most established and popular dishes. At Taipan, we don't do anything by half measures. Our ingredients are hand-picked by our chefs from the highest quality sources - even our seafood menu has more dishes than most specialist seafood restaurants. The quality of our food is supplemented by our drinks menu, which includes a variety of some of the finest wines and champagnes from around the world. We'll help you decide what drinks best complement your food, to ensure that not a single taste is wasted. If you would like to know more about what goes in our food, please get in touch via our contacts page or Twitter feed and we'll be more than happy to chat.

Lovely food, great service

Bright and airy restaurant with, at the time of our visit, very welcome air-conditioning. The three of us chose the Hong Kong set menu which was more than ample with mixed starters, duck and pancakes and a selection of main courses with a generous bowl of rice. I always like to go into a Chinese restaurant and see the majority of diners are Chinese. That was the case when we called in to the Taipan. We had a seven dish Dim Sum with Chinese tea and beer and it was really well prepared and well served. The dishes were so tasty and flavoursome. The Chinese beer was... More

Not our first visit, but it has been a while since we ate here. The food quality has clearly been maintained and servings are certainly not small, as I read in another review. Service was prompt and efficient. We had the mixed starters which although not containing any surprises were all very enjoyable. The Aromatic Duck likewise was really good.... More

We came here for dim sum early on a Sunday afternoon with my partner and my parents. It was completely packed, full of Chinese people, which is always a good sign in a Chinese restaurant! I was glad that we had booked in advance. We had a variety of dishes with Chinese tea. Food was very fresh and we loved... More

Went to the taipan restaurant as a change to where we would normally eat (Indian)and as a bank holiday treat, We didn't book just thought we would try our luck. We were welcomed and seated straight away. We had fantastic service & our waitress was very friendly, attentive and even advised when she thought we had ordered enough food for... More

My husband and I recently visited this restaurant for a pre-theatre dinner. The location is excellent as its next door to Milton Keynes Theatre which is exactly what we wanted. When we arrived there were only two or three tables full but within half an hour the restaurant was packed. We found the service good but I would suggest that... More

This was my first visit to the Tiapan and was so pleased, the place is very much like the restaurants in Hong Kong the service was very good. I thought the food was really good and authentic. It was good to find a restaurant that is not a chain. Will be going again.

Love here because they have the biggest choices for Dim Sum lovers in Milton Keynes. The minced pork congee with preserved egg is delicious, we all love a big bowl for sharing! However the size of dishes on Menu becomes shrinked every year-due to the economic crunch time? That's why we haven't had main dishes there since 2 years ago.

Dear Shan, thank you for endorsing our dim sum. We guess it is through your guesstimate that you feel the size of our dishes becomes shrieked, as you have not ordered any in the last two years. Looking at dishes on the next table, due to distance always seem small. Order some in your next visit and you will find... More

This is an ideal spot for anyone who wants a meal before going to the Theatre MK. The restaurant is only 3 minutes walk from the theatre and is geared up for early evening trade: service is fast and efficient and remains polite and friendly. There is good quality Chinese food on offer, with perhaps a bit too much rice... More
