Great location pity about the rest

We recently visited the Calcutta brasserie with friends and had a great night with our friends despite the slow and poor service. The setting is special in the old chapel but the service did not match. There are plenty of other Indian restaurants in the town, pick one of those instead.

This was our first visit to a locally renowned Indian restaurant. Nice place and the atmosphere was good as we were with friends and it was busy which may explain why the food was extremely slow and service not very attentive but above all of the 9 main dishes 6 were cold/ Luke warm at best and sent back to... Myself and three friends visited yesterday. It was buffet night but we chose the a la carte menu. There were not many people in the restaurant for 7.30/8.00 and asking for the a la carte appeared to put them out a little. There were a number of waiting staff so the lack of service when asking for more drinks was... More

Lovely old characteristic setting. Valentines set menu and entertainment. Excellent food, which was cooked well and full of flavour. The lamb shank was a real hit. Great package price for the night. Staff was slightly under pressure from the volume of booking, but still maintain to be friendly throughout the night. Would recommend, and we will return.

We went here for a Valentines meal and were amazed at the interior of the 17th century listed chapel. From the outside it resembles a French chateau and inside the floor tiles (Minton?) and the ceiling murals are amazing. The food and live entertainment were excellent and the staff were attentive. We will be going again.

We stopped over in MK and decided to go for curry here as it had such an attractive exterior. The food was indeed tasty. We sat down about an hour & half before a reservation at 8.00. Our starter came in good time and was tasty but no sooner were the plates cleared than mains arrived. It was so quick... More

We have eaten in the Calcutta many times and never been disappointed. The restaurant is in a 17th Century Grade II Listed Chapel which makes eating here a unique experience. It is a bit pricier than most indian restaurants but the quality and choice of food more than justifies paying a few pounds more. It also has a cracking dessert... More

Good value for money and great choice of dishes in both the starters and mains. Compared to other indian buffets the quality of the ingredients is good and thre is no skimping on the meats in the dishes.

Monday night away on business, found the Calcutta. Food very good , staff attentive so service good. Set meal and advertised free top ups of main courses offered and delivered with great grace, so often these words are purely marketing gestures not at Calcutta! Would go back
