Charming place with Great Food

Lovely old characteristic setting. Valentines set menu and entertainment. Excellent food, which was cooked well and full of flavour. The lamb shank was a real hit. Great package price for the night. Staff was slightly under pressure from the volume of booking, but still maintain to be friendly... read more

Managed to get a last minute last booking here last night and it was well worth it.. Busy restaurant. Had the banquet for £21 and it was delicious- too much so had to take some home. Service super be and they even called a taxi when needed.

The Calcutta Brasserie serve beautiful food in a beautiful atmosphere set within an old church building complete with Roman style paintings! Being a vegetarian, I particularly like the fact that they offer so many delicious veggie meals. The service is quick & friendly. It's very rare to have such a quality restaurant charge such reasonable prices.

My daughter booked this restaurant for Mothers Day and specifically requested two high chairs be available for my two granddaughters ages 1 and 2, she was told this would be fine. On arrival at the restaurant we were told there were no highchairs available and then totally ignored!!!! No staff came over to see us we were just left so... More

A big group of us were booked in on a saturday night. Most of the party went for the Indian banquet to try and simplify things. The service was pitifully slow. we arrived at 8pm and despite chivvying our starters didn't arrive until after 9pm and the main courses an hour later. we noticed that other tables were suffering similar... Booked a table for 9pm last night, a group of 9 friends, we had to wait 50 minutes for a table, no apology, after complaining to the manager he offered 2 bottles of wine on the house and said will that make you happy as though we where putting him out! That was nice for the friends who where drinking,... More

We recently visited the Calcutta brasserie with friends and had a great night with our friends despite the slow and poor service. The setting is special in the old chapel but the service did not match. There are plenty of other Indian restaurants in the town, pick one of those instead.

This was our first visit to a locally renowned Indian restaurant. Nice place and the atmosphere was good as we were with friends and it was busy which may explain why the food was extremely slow and service not very attentive but above all of the 9 main dishes 6 were cold/ Luke warm at best and sent back to... Myself and three friends visited yesterday. It was buffet night but we chose the a la carte menu. There were not many people in the restaurant for 7.30/8.00 and asking for the a la carte appeared to put them out a little. There were a number of waiting staff so the lack of service when asking for more drinks was... More
