Table for 2 in the first meal out back up north. Great service and food. We were looking for something a bit more sophisticated than standard pub food and Olives certainly delivered. Lovely atmosphere and attentive staff in a nice location (it was raining of course). Welcome back to northern hospitality.

We like to go to Olives for a special evening out. It is good to be able to sit in the bar area in front of the fire in winter whilst we choose what to eat. Not been for a couple of months but just wanted to post a positive review as was surprised to see a couple of negative... More

Last night was our first visit to Olives and it was a mixture of both good and bad points! We ordered a bottle of wine - which was lovely but were given mismatched glasses - not the end of the world but not really expected either. Sorted quickly without much fuss. I had soup to start which was ok, a... More

Don't be in too much of a hurry when visiting, because everything is expertly prepared fresh when ordered. Relax and sit back and enjoy the wonderful food prepared by Roy and ably assisted by his wife Paula, who makes fabulous deserts and her own unbelievably scrumptious ice cream.

We stubbled across the olives when looking for some Pub lunch but decided to give it a go. It looked quite expensive however it wasn't. We had starters and a main course the lamb Henry, oven roasted steak and my daughter had spaghetti bol (for a 4 year old to say its the best spag bol she's had, that's saying... More

Greeted by the same welcoming smile and fun bar man, once ordered the new but very professional head waiter sat us... More

We visited last weekend, and thought it was ok...lot of choice on the menu, maybe too much and could do with specialising on a smaller selection of foods or styles. But what we had was nice, a pizza and my husband had the steak, drinks were ok priced and overall service was good.

Food to die by...almost literally...overloaded with fats and carbs. It isn't nice to be asked to move to a smaller table for your dessert to make way for new diners.

Went here last Saturday and we were really disappointed. It's not often as parents you get a child free night but we did and decided to treat ourselves to a 'date night' and a child free meal out in the village. The surroundings in the restaurant are quite nice and the chap behind the bar was very pleasant but the... More
