Average food in cold dining room

Dined here on Friday evening, greeted by a pleasant waiter who showed us to our table which was in a small side room, very pleasant room but very chilly, wore my coat all night. Visited with husband and dog after a walk round nearby Entwistle Reservoir, wasn't my first choice but others closed completely or early so here it was. Had msgd in advance and there seemed a good choice of veggie options so was looking forward to it nevertheless. Both of us had mushroom for starters, husband had gammon and I had cheese... More

Very very disappointed by our last visit. We have been regular visitors to this pub since it was refurbished a couple if years ago, often calling in for lunch at the end of a walk, and I can only say standards are dropping considerably. Our last visit was for lunch on Easter bank holiday Monday which also happened to be... More

We visited here on a Sunday with family. It's a lovely little pub, but quite hard to find if you don't know where your going! Our sat nav tried taking us via an uneven stone path which nearly shredded the bottom of the car! We found it better to follow the signs for the train station instead as it is... More

Stopped here for lunch half way round the Warpers Way walk, having called in for a drink while doing the same walk last year. The food was excellent; only a fish finger butty with chips, and a burger with chips, but all very tasty and freshly cooked. The homemade tartar sauce with the fish fingers was delicious! The Blond Witch... More

My wife and daughter decided we were going out for dinner even though it was a Tuesday night and not a special occasion. After much deliberation it was decided to give the Strawberry duck in Entwistle a try. The place on a Tuesday evening was relatively quiet and we were shown to our table without much bother. I ordered Lamb... More

What an absolute joke. Meal not as described at all. Very understaffed. One poor young kid running about. Poor quality food. Example - jerk chicken salad, with 50% of the ingredients listed missing with a honey and mustard dressing? Absolutely nothing jerk about it. Tables uncleared. Weeds everywhere, needs painting. And to top it off was super expensive. Will NOT... More

Thankfully they serve food all day . 3.30 pm and starving hungry as had late breakfast . A joy to view the menu as lots of choice . The starter and mains were delicious and well worth the cost . Maybe service was not at its best but an unusual time for a full meal so not many staff on... More

Thought I would have a ride out to the strawberry duck for lunch for a birthday treat having grown up in the area as a boy and not been in over 13 years. We arrived just after 12 o clock to find the chef stood by the back door checking a food delivery and smoking a fag ..... No thanks... More

We arrived to find the place buzzing with folk. Fortunately we had booked a table. The ambience was brilliant. The food generally was very good, but some things were lacking. Eg I ordered the lamb shoulder, which was to be served with potatoes, spring cabbage and carrot purée. Well, talk of nouveau cuisine! I had a few strands of finely... More
