Thoroughly Enjoyable Meal

Thankfully they serve food all day . 3.30 pm and starving hungry as had late breakfast . A joy to view the menu as lots of choice . The starter and mains were delicious and well worth the cost . Maybe service was not at its best but an unusual time for a full meal so not many staff on... read more

Thought I would have a ride out to the strawberry duck for lunch for a birthday treat having grown up in the area as a boy and not been in over 13 years. We arrived just after 12 o clock to find the chef stood by the back door checking a food delivery and smoking a fag ..... No thanks... More

We arrived to find the place buzzing with folk. Fortunately we had booked a table. The ambience was brilliant. The food generally was very good, but some things were lacking. Eg I ordered the lamb shoulder, which was to be served with potatoes, spring cabbage and carrot purée. Well, talk of nouveau cuisine! I had a few strands of finely... More

Thsi place is buzzing with a constant stream of people dining here, although whenever we have stopped the rooms are very quiet. Another brilliant stay, this time we walked round the nearby reservoir Wayho which is a gentle 3 mile walk past bridges, quarries, woods and copses. This place has such a good atmosphere in which to totally relax with... More

A lovely spring evening walk around the reservoirs and then to the Strawbury for a couple of pints and a meal. We tend to go to the Strawbury mid-week as weekends get very busy. The food was served within 20 minutes of ordering and was clearly freshly cooked. We regularly call for a drink and eat at the Strawbury about... More

This is a nice pub to visit for a casual meal especially if you have a dog. There's even a tiny selection of treats for your dog! The food is very good and it's a popular place which results in a nice buzzing atmosphere but which can make it tricky to park and find a table. It's worth a visit... More

Had a lovely earl around the reservoir 2.5 miles could be anywhere in the world beatiful. Called for a pint and a burger really busy. The lad behind the bar was top! Really attentive and polite. Sat outside in the sunshine. A little wait but no problem food and drink brill. Lovely finish to an afternoons walk

We really needed a nice cup of tea after a walk. Got settled down to be told they had no milk (11.00 in the morning). There is a local shop and no one had thought to go and fetch some! No apology just a bleary eyed shrug. Went elsewhere.

Walked from Chorley and stayed the night. Great food, great beer an one and the accommodation was excellent. Would definately reccommend it.
