Welcome to the Toby Carvery Watergate Toll. When it comes to roast dinners, we really know our stuff. Every day our chefs lay on a feast of tender, hand-carved meats with all the trimmings – including towering Yorkshire puds, golden roasties with all those lovely little crunchy bits, and plenty of freshly prepared veg, all crowned with proper gravy. So it's no wonder we're Bolton’s favourite carvery restaurant. Drop by and you'll find lots more on offer, including cooked breakfasts and tasty specials.

Decent but nothing special

I came here on a passing visit from Lancaster to visit friends and my family and I decided to eat here. The food itself was very nice, although the meat was very fatty, as there was plenty to chose from. We were moved tables twice to accommodate other people which was a nuisance and service for... read more

Stopped off on our way home to Wales. Arrived at 5pm on a Sunday. The place was very busy, but as there were 6 of us, we had to wait 30 mins for a table. We all chose a carvery meal - beef, pork, turkey and gammon were all on offer and you can have a combination of each. The... More

Having been here about 3/4 times previously we decided to go again for my sons birthday Well what a mistake that was the food was tasteless, gravy watery waitress couldn't be bothered to ask if `all was ok with meal` maybe she kept away when she saw the amount of food wasted on our plates They had an advert inside... Regularly come here for the carvery as it is my sons favourite place to eat out. Food is always fairly good, can get a little busy meaning a queue for food, staff are always pleasant, for the money well worth it.

My wife and myself went to the Toby for a Sunday meal and were told there was a 15 minute waite so we decided to stay and the hostess took our name. We sat down and my wife had a coke and I asked at the bar for a glass of tap water to which the barperson said their was... More

went with friends for breakfast to celebrate a birthday. The manageress was really miserable and rude. Nobody around to ask if we could have poached eggs. Toilets were disgusting and even worse than public toilets. Food was tepid not warm at all.

Me and fella have been here quiet a few times, for the Carvery option. We always feel that the staff are attentive when we go. We've felt the food can be a bit slow getting to us, big queues at the Carvery sometimes- when they are very busy. Can be quiet or busy depends on the type of day when... More

We go here and always think great food, fair price but poor service but at least the first 2 are there. The carvery is tasty and the veg is fresh. Be aware it is also really busy with families over the weekend as you would expect either to wait or be loud.

Visited on Wednesday 29th July at about 7.30pm. All staff seemed to have a chip on their shoulder but the 'chef' (guy carving the meat) deserves special mention. A lady using a walking stick had asked for a regular carvery but on a larger plate so she could carry it easier. Under no circumstances could he possibly give her a... More

I visited this carvery with two friends for lunch, having been there on numerous occasions. We arrived at 11.45 so were first in the queue to be served at 12 noon. Although the other meats looked fine the turkey had obviously been left over from the night before. One side of the bird had been used, the other unused side... More
